He needs to go. If not then Gladys Berejiklian (or whoever is his overhead) should sack him for being an irresponsible, selfish leader of an organisation.
Yes. He should be fired from both jobs.
He strikes me as a Teflon man. No idea why he’s held in high regard.
actually sorry to burst your bubble there was an announcement that the comp still is on.
THe report about relocation to central Queensland was reported by several media groups as one of the clubs leaked they were on a mass phone hook up talking about there options, this was before the news came out about NSW going to essentials only movement, apparently the report also said closed boarders but that has been scaled back to “wait” until the emergency cabinet meeting ends and we all find out what the next phase is from Scotty from marketing as NSW and Victoria have gone beyond his control.
This apparently is where V’Landys wants the NRL teams to live. But there is no football ground at this location, so they would have to travel to a nearby town to train and play the games. He is delusional.
101 Calliope River Rd, West Stowe QLD 4680
Rat with a gold tooth also comes to mind.
?
as I said earlier it looks like 1 more week of NRL which see them pass the April 1st date which allows them to enter the last 1/4 of the financial year.
That will give them a payment from the media rights holders (Nine, News Corp, Telstra, NZ Broadcasters, Radio and International rights holders) of about $18 million.
After April 1st who knows what they will be able to do.
If the Federal Government limits all sporting event venues to 50 people then they are done, 100 people limit? they could just squeeze in games.
They could survive by giving the media rights holders a free run extension at a reduced rate but that is yet to be seen.

Yes the Gold Coast Chargers, they were in the initial 1998 NRL season however were booted out of the comp when their owner the ARL could no longer support them and in any case like the Adelaide Rams they were two teams that did not meet the “NRL Criteria plan”, prior to that they were formed by the ARL (the old ARL not the ARLC) as a replacement team for the Gold Coast Gladiators which lasted something like 3 weeks just prior to the start of the 1996 ARL Optus Cup season and prior to that they were the Gold Coast Seagulls and all the way back to 1988 they were the original Gold Coast-Twead Heads Giants.
History is:
1988 & 1989
Gold Coast-Tweed Heads Giants
1990 to 1995
Gold Coast Seagulls
1996
Gold Coast Gladiators (for something like 3 weeks before the ARL took the licence in house using Optus Vision money to support them)
1996 to 1998
Gold Coast Chargers
Major achievement was making the 1997 ARL Optus Cup finals series (note: that year it was a 12 team comp with a top 7 final series)
Together with the Adelaide Rams (Super League) South East QLD Crushers (ARL ended in 1997), Hunter Mariners (Super League ending in 1997 side which essentially became the 1998 Melbourne Storm) and Perth Reds (Super League ended in 1997) were the first from a combined 22 team unification league which was eventually trimmed back to 14 teams by the start of 2001
Of course today the Gold Coast is (poorly) represented by the Gold Coast Titans in NRL.
Yes I know but why did he mention them for relocation?
Report suggest QLD Govt to shut their boarders in 48 hrs.
If ARLC / NRL have any chance they have to move now to the central Qld town within 48hra as would the media crews.
That is the last roll of the dice … Channel 09 QLD is aware and making plans for OB facility possibly with ABC.
Fox Sports don’t have any crews in that region as they outsource to contractors but that won’t be an issue as the satellite uplink can be sent anywhere.
Off topic. What will happen at Tweed Heads? Its difficult to shut borders when people commute to work.
reports are saying that ARLC - league Central - is about to be shut down on run on skeleton crew … unlike AFL the ARLC are going to pay staff their leave entitlements + salary up to May 1 2020.
NSWRL & CRL are still open for business apparently.
Time is running out for the ARLC and the NRL comp, if the have to move to the central QLD township they need to do it within 24 hours, it looks like they have secured broadcast ability via ABC with Nine and Fox Sports working remotely should that be an option.
, considering there is no hard boarder just the Pacific highway as the main arteries with Warf and and Griffith St the bypass routes they can close those two down easily and then use discretion to allow prole in and out
the bigger issues are the regional crossings as that is a long ass border around 580km on the eastern side and 920 on the central western side with multiple entry/exit dirt roads, no way they can monitor them all and I doubt they will try, they also have neighbours with SA and NT but I don’t see those regions zones being affect by it.
LOL what happens at Cameron’s corner
I have been there! I guess the pub is closed now which is a shame
I think they may need to find a camp like at Tweed Heads, still in NSW?
I just counted around fifteen streets that cross the border, and there is plenty of pedestrian access between those streets.
The southern end of Apple St, Coolangatta, Qld, provides the only vehicular access to some houses in Kira Shores, Tweed Heads, NSW, while other houses have a driveway from Qld to NSW, but some houses have pedestrian access via a gate in their back fence to Ourimbah Rd, Tweed Heads. I don’t know how they will manage that area.
there is a report going around that ARLC are looking at doing a 2 tier conference:
Yes I know this sounds crazy but the report said:
Cowboys, Broncos, Warriors and Titians
Raiders, Storm, Dragons & Sharks
Newcastle, Manly, Roosters & Tigers
Bulldogs, Eels, Panthers & Rabbithos
round robin style set up.
Dont’ shoot the messenger
Nope done, NRL suspended to be announced officially around News time so 6:00pm
the shut down of QLD broader and enforced self isolation is what has done it.
Apparently the option of relocating to central qld could not be done within 48 hours effectively.
Potentially they could cancel the next two - three weeks. Have the guys in self isolation in the camp , then start again… Clutching at straws here !
Anyway my team (the eels) are minor premiers for now
Thankfully common sense prevails.
V’Landys might be upset that his precious NRL is not going to make any money but if that’s all he thinks then he and his business interests can get screwed.
