Rugby League

I don’t think that will have anything to do with it.

The cowboys Have beaten the Dragons in the NRL9 Final 23-14 in HBF Park, Perth. NQ Cowboys will be in line to collect a cool $1 million if they can win the NRL Gf in 2020.

By all accounts it’s off the agenda

With the end of the State of Origin sponsorship for Holden, I think that the NRL need to find sponsorships. Instead of alcoholic brands, why not have like different sponsorships like Samsung or Telstra.

They already sponsor the NRL Premiership.

Perhaps they could get Harvey Norman back on board or something?

The Australian reports ARLC chair Peter V’Landys and NRL commercial manager Andrew Abdo took a quick trip to San Francisco and Los Angeles last week, where they met executives from Amazon Prime, Facebook and Google. This followed AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan’s visit to the same technology firms last year to explore streaming options for the next broadcast deal.

And Hisense is the new sponsor of State of Origin and Thursday Night Football.

Another example of Chinese electronic brands sponsoring local popular sports (c.f. Vivo mobile phones as naming sponsor of Indian Premier League cricket).
Huawei is a sponsor of Canberra Raiders. The Raiders play their only Thursday night match this year, against the Dragons in round 3, so we will see two Chinese brands featured.

Well there you go, I always thought Hisense were Korean, but you’re right

They make good TVs.

No, Hisense is from Qingdao in eastern China.

the new marketing advertisement is “cringe” worthy, more like freaking awful that does not represent Rugby League today at all.

I saw it for the first time tonight too.

I wasn’t really impressed by it either.

Haven’t seen the whole ad yet, but did catch bits and pieces of it played during the “Exclusive” report Nine News Sydney had last night.

I get what they’re trying to do, but I’m not at all convinced by the scenes of what’s supposed to be a young Cameron Smith watching the original ad on what appears to be an Early 2000s era CRT!

looks like News Corp is mad at ARLC and have demanded the “Super League is tearing the game apart” line be removed from the new marketing effort.

It’s good, imho.

I agree, best not to mention “the war” at all.

They were probably THE worst years of the game.

Oh come on, Manly Sea Eagles v Gold Coast Chargers at Brookvale on a monsoon weather Saturday afternoon with only like 100 people at at the ground was great pay TV …

Or how about Adelaide Rams v Hunter Mariners in Aldeaide on a Sunday afternoon
