News Corp reports the Bears have signed Englishman Harry Newman, who has played 129 games and scored 46 tries for the Leeds Rhinos. Newman has also represented England in seven appearances, which included the latest Ashes series against Australia in the third test.

Colour of that logo looks too much like Manly’s maroon… I always thought the Broncos main colours were a bit more brown-ish than that.

Still with the Broncos, The Courier-Mail reported that they received offers from Arabian government officials to play Super League champions Hull KR in the World Club Challenge in a Middle Eastern country on February 19 next year. The deal fell through as Hull KR is also playing in Las Vegas in the NRL’s season opening weekend.

RLPA boss Clint Newton has whacked the NRL over the “short-sighted” decision to threaten players who leave the code for R360 with 10-year bans.
ARL Commission chairman Peter V’landys came out earlier this month and said that any player who makes the jump to the rebel rugby union competition would be frozen out of a return for a decade.
The audacious plan has drawn plenty of criticism and many have doubted whether the potential sanctions could be legally imposed.
While he doesn’t want to see stars leave the game and join a rival code, Newton is also of the belief the suspensions wouldn’t hold up in court.

New Balance has been named as the on-and-off field apparel supplier for the incoming Perth Bears, which will enter the NRL in 2027.
The Bears are the first NRL club to partner with the brand.

I think ISC was absorbed by Under Armour recently? Because I know AFL club Hawthorn have switched to UA (they were with ISC between 2023-25).

Under Armour invested in ISC. i suspect any club that signed with ISC is now with UA.
I remember a few years ago ISC scaled back the number of teams they were supplying. I got a tonne of Knights and Swans gear on the cheap.

Toby Sexton’s dramatic fall from favour with the Bulldogs has opened the door to an opportunity in Perth, with the halfback the first notable NRL player to sign with the Bears.
The expansion club announced Sexton as their first major signing on Tuesday.

As a bulldogs supporter I’m very happy for Sexton. He’s a really good person and should have been given the opportunity to see out the season as halfback. For his sake I hope the bears can sign some decent players around him,
