Suspect the Warriors would want Sunday 6pm local potentially

In honour of the Dragons losing tonight 40-0. WIN should change their name to…

Also first scoreless performance since round 10 (Storm over Wests Tigers 64-0).

Now not a mathematical chance in making the top 8 for the Dragons :frowning:

Tomorrow night should be a double cracker…

Panthers (5th) vs Raiders (1st) and Storm (2nd) vs Dogs (3rd).

I’ll be watching both

Seeing that kinda makes me miss those Friday Nights in the late 2000s and early 2010s when Channel 9 used to have the Double Header with one game aired live and one game aired on a delay (you could always search for the results of the second game on the internet back during those days)
If channel 9 was still like that, it would had been a good four hours of football to watch.

Two live games is way better IMO

If you could turn off your socials so no one spoilt it with the result of the 2nd game, then maybe!

But 11.30 is a bit too late a finish for the 2nd delayed game in these days… and I find 6pm Friday a bit early for a start for the first game! Hmmm… can’t please everyone I guess! :slightly_smiling_face:

When the Perth Bears enter the competition in 2027, a 9.30pm Friday game will be possible again, as it will be 6.30pm in Perth during daylight savings in Sydney, or 7.30pm during winter months.

Wonder if we’ll then see the return of Nine’s Friday night double header, but only on nights when the Bears play in this timeslot.

As far back as I can remember, in round 16, 2011 there was a Friday night match between the Tigers and Bulldogs at Campbelltown Stadium, followed by the Rabbitohs facing the Broncos in Perth later that evening (in that match, Rhys Wesser scored one of the more unconventional tries by pouncing on a ball that landed dead in the Broncos’ in-goal, in dreadful weather conditions).

It could potentially be a Friday triple header with the early game in Auckland, then Sydney and then Perth.

I don’t think there would be much interest in a Friday 4pm (or 10pm) EST game here, but that format would definitely work on a Saturday.

Not rugby league I know, but I find that T20 cricket matches finish too late. With slow over rates persisting despite the penalties, a game starting at 1915 often finishes around 2300.

At least there aren’t usually interminable delays in league matches, the occasional serious injury excepted.

Can we just get rid of the pub o’clock game? There is no harm in having two games on at the same time.

No, but I think the NRL want to (understandably) put their product across as many viewable timeslots as possible… It’s not like the AFL whereby their games go for longer and they have 9 games, thus overlaps are practically unavoidable.

And the games did not disappoint!

The Golden Point finish between Penrith and Canberra was something else, Cleary had a last tackle 40m field goal attempt, it hits the upright, the Raiders pick it up and race 95m to score the matchwinner 20-16. They came from 16-6 down to win, meaning Penrith now look like missing the Top 4.

In the other game, Storm defeated Canterbury 20-14, but they always looked like winning that one.

Must say, the two games are really worth their standalone slots tonight.

The teams scored the opening try at about the same minute.

Though Penrith scored first, but lost.
