Cleary has called on the NRL to rescue the World Club Challenge by scheduling the match during the competition’s Magic Round.

Having it during Magic Round would mean that Penrith would be the team to get the Magic Round bye. But it would also mean they they forgo one of their byes by playing on a week where they would have off.

They would just need to have a bye in another week instead, perhaps they get that during the Origin period.

They aren’t playing each other? They would have to go a week earlier, set the stadium up earlier, etc.

I think he meant if they changed the schedule so Penrith play Wigan, which would mean a somewhat meaningless Cronulla v Warrington game.

A lot of fans (including me) have already bought tickets on the basis of the current schedule and would feel a bit dudded, particularly if you were a Cronulla or Warrington supporter.

Imagine going all the way to Vegas just to lose to Warrington.

Well my mob are probably going to lose to Penrith anyway! If that happens, it’ll be the 5th game in a row I’ve seen my Sharkies play and then lose. Which feels strange for a team that finished 4th this year. I’ve probably been a bit unlucky, They should have won at least of the 2 of the last 4 times.

The Sunday Telegraph’s Sunday Sesh column provided an update today.

The NRL has written to WA premier Roger Cook to let him know that talks between the NRL and the consortium had broken down.

The NRL is now going to explore a different model in terms of ownership which may be similar to that of the AFL running the new Tasmanian side.

It is understood the government replied, where they detailed they are keen to work alongside the NRL, but need a better understanding of how the new franchise would work.

They will now wait to hear from the NRL in the next fortnight.

Whilst it might have been a great in some ways. That game was a horrible advertisement for the Womens international game.

I know you shouldn’t use the phrase Women vs Girls (even though in mens sports they will freely use the analogy if Men vs Boys) but it was definitely a case of amateurs vs professionals. Also keeping in mind the women only play 35 minute halves

The female Uber passenger, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was travelling in the backseat of the car with her four-year-old daughter when she noticed Mam’s ute heading towards them.

“I can remember looking up and straight away I’ve seen this car veer straight in front of us… I knew what was going to come next,” she told Nine News Brisbane. “That’s when the vehicle hit us.”

The woman said her child suffered a fractured hip as a result of the collision and both are recovering from seatbelt burns. They have not heard from Mam directly since the incident but Broncos officials have reached out to express their concern and check on the family’s welfare.

Fiji carving up the Cook Islands. 56-6 with 2 anf s half minutes to go

Yeah, some games have been a bit lopsided.

Not going to help the cause of PNG and/or Pasifika to get into the NRL.

56-6 was the final score.

Despite the win, Fiji still needs Cook Islands to beat Papua New Guinea next week, in order to finish as the top side in the Pacific Bowl, and a place in the promotion relegation play-off in Sydney.

After that result they shouldn’t hold their breath.

Next year if there is a Pacific Championship it will be a bit more even of a contest cause it’s my understanding that Australia wont be taking part cause they will be touring England

Cook Islands are a level below the other Pacific teams.

NZ beat Australia 30 0 in the final last year.

Yes except it’s the other way around - England are touring Australia.
