Rugby League

A fair number would come straight from the MCG too.

Red Rooster beats KFC. I don’t know what the dirty bird was thinking when they agreed to sponsor the Dragons.

I expected a towel up today so it’s amazing that it was a one point affair. The season that keeps on giving.

Who knows what anyone is thinking when they get involved with the Dragons. IIRC, they also sponsor that trainwreck of a club Wests Tigers.

Dragons and Wests Tigers should merge to form Dumpster Fire RLFC. And move them to Perth. Move the Sharks to PNG as well. More chaos.

Are you looking for trouble?!

:boxing_glove:

And hands off my Sharkies!

I would in return rename your mob the Hunter Mariners.

Or better still, merge them with Manly and call them the New Northern Knighted Eagles.

I went to the ANZAC Day game today between the Dragons and the Roosters. As a Dragons fan, heading to the game, me and my friends didnt have much faith with us in the match, after a crappy start to the year.
After trailing 26-12 at one stage, we were there just enjoying the atmosphere and not paying much attention. But the second half was awesome, and comeback of sorts ended up being great. We ended up being happy at the end, despite the one point loss.

(And it was my first time at the new SFS. It’s a great stadium).

I too had given up hope at 26-12 down, and was cheering for your mob when they had clawed it back to 26-26.

And it is a great stadium!

The Warriors were gallant in defeat going down to the Storm 30-22.

Injuries killed their chances, they only had 1 player left on the interchange bench late, and the Storm came over the top of them when they trailled NZ 12-22.

No. Should’ve been wiped out and merged with the Dragons years ago.

No. The Central Coast can have them. In another sport.

No. Move them to Gosford.

Ironically it’s now the Dragons that are the weaker side in all respects. We want our Battle Of The (Tom Ugly’s) Bridge to remain thanks very much!

The Dragons need to face the reality that 50% of the Club is owned by WIN (Woolongong/Illawarra) & surely there has to be a point that WIN buys out the rest and move them to the Gong full time leaving the Sharks with the Southern Suburbs as their catchment and with South’s re Positioning to the coast south of Bondi to pretty much Sans Souci the need for a 3rd club in the South is one too many in my reckoning.

Yeah although it would upset many “Saints supporters” I would agree with this (only in theory).

Although the Steelers never had the same following as the Newcastle Knights (did or still have). Wollongong feels a bit like the Gold Coast titans/sea gulls etc. They too never had the massive following as one would have expected. I think St George has more loyal followers in Sydney than the Gong. The Wests Magpies I classed as a similar example to the Steelers, not getting a massive following in Campbelltown as Penrith does for example with Panthers. Admittedly success could of changed this. Maybe its “management” not doing a good job promoting the magpies or it could be just the market there is not as interested. Just like trying to sell cricket to a country which just doesn’t have the same interest.

I contradicted myself a bit, and I think that illustrates the complexity of the topic, what is logically ie move St George to the Gong 100% doesn’t always mean it will be 100% successful. If the Red V moved to Papa New Guinea I am sure it would be an instant success with the amount of fans but perhaps not financially. Wollongong is just a city that doesn’t seem to be a “Rugby League” town like Newcastle is.

Agree, if the Dragons were to move to Wollongong full time, they should change their name back to the Illawarra Steelers, that’s the only way they’ll be truly accepted there.

Can we move them to PNG? For the lolz?

The Dragons can merge with the Tigers to make a super club. Play their home games at Win, Kogarah, Leichhardt, Campbelltown, Homebush and the odd one at the SFS, have their training grounds at Concord and Wollongong, and have their Fan Functions at their Leagues Clubs at Kogarah, Wollongong and Ashfield

I am half joking but there has been talk of a team up there or more correctly “PNG / Pacific islands”. The dragons branding would definitely work up there . Maybe that would be one for the Bears.

Yeah - the Super Dumpster Fire.

It is interesting the joint ventures clubs after a good 20 years or so, are not performing extraordinarily well. I know St George Illawarra and West Tigers have won a comp (more than what my eels have done for 37 odd years) , but I’d say most fans of the clubs wouldn’t be rejoicing that it has been a runaway success story. Id say Penrith would of been relieved they didn’t merge with the Eels. Even South Sydney are in a good position.

As Cronulla beats the Cowboys, this needs to be said, and should’ve happened years ago. I do not apologise.
