Vodafone Warriors to be accurate, naturally the sponsor conflict means that name can’t be used in programs etc.
Only as the away team as far as I’m aware.
The Bulldogs and The Sharks have been called just that for a number of of years, before returning to Canterbury Bankstown and Cronulla Sutherland respectively.
Not exactly NRL… Nine had video from Bar TV but a spectator had vision of their own.
Just horrible.
If there are no umps/referees, there is no game. This sort of behaviour is disgusting and not on. Umpiring is not easy and they do their very best but just like players, they won’t get it right all the time- they make mistakes and that is okay. They will learn from them and get better. That doesn’t mean that people need to resort to violence. A coward move by these idiots…
The Gold Coast Titans have today launched a new look ready to take the club and its crop of young stars into the future.
The re-designed logo brings in the Titans’ core colours that were designed to reflect our Gold Coast home and modernises the iconic emblem.
Crichton and Cleary had been issued with $7,000 and $4,000 fines respectively for their roles in the NRL trophy being damaged, while May has been fined $7,500 for his social media post hours after the grand final, which referred to his sex tape scandal in 2019.
News Corp yesterday reported of a new bid to have a Perth-based team joining the NRL in 2024. It will inherit the Western Reds name.
Great news
Agree, it’d be great to have Perth back in the NRL, and hopefully we don’t have a 17 team comp for long.
A bit surprised at the Western Reds name, also given it was changed to the Perth Reds when Super League started. I always though a new Perth team would be Perth Pumas, or Perth Pirates.
So do they just not get let in to Storm home games? Seems like Victoria’s mandate is pretty clear cut and will still be around by the time of the season starting. Likewise, would NZ let them in for Warriors games?
I’d say the same for getting into Queensland, but I suspect they’d just make a sports exception like the rest of the last two years.
This might be a suggestion that the number of unvaccinated players (and unwilling to get vaccinated) might be on the high side
I don’t agree with the NRL’s decision to not have a vaccine mandate.
Considering everything they’ve done to keep the competition going over the past two years, surely it’s in their best interests to ensure that all (or at least the vast majority of) players are vaccinated?
I’ve seen a suggestion that this might be a move to placate the players association (which may, in turn, give some indication that there’s a bit of a backlash at any move)
It’s likely in any case that some kind of mandate will apply to these players anyway - Victoria (at least) require professional sportspeople to be vaccinated, airlines are likely (if they haven’t already) to require it as well.
