Returning to Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre is a great idea, given it hosts the Big Day Out during the day of the appeal.
However, it means the tally room will need to move out of the theatre (Plenary?) to another part of MCEC.

I thought they use to have it all in the Plenary to begin with, judging by earlier caps from previous years.
Record-breaking result for The Royal Childrenâs Hospital
Some of the biggest names in entertainment came together on Friday for the Good Friday Appeal. The telethon, broadcast on Channel 7 Melbourne and nationally on 7plus, helped raise a record-breaking $23,368,724 for The Royal Childrenâs Hospital in Melbourne.
Funds raised enable The Royal Childrenâs Hospital to provide world-class care to children and continue its ground-breaking research as one of the worldâs leading childrenâs hospitals. The support of the Victorian people made it possible.
Managing Director Seven Melbourne and Head of Network Sport, Lewis Martin, said: âIt is always touching to see Victorians dig deep for a cause so close to all of our hearts.
âIt is an honour for Seven to broadcast this iconic event, as we have for the past 67 years. Thank you to all of our special guests, volunteers and staff who made it all possible, and to our partners at The Royal Childrenâs Hospital and the Herald Sun for another outstanding year,â he said.
The eveningâs highlights included performances from Conrad Sewell; Kate Miller-Heidke, who is soon to debut as a coach on Sevenâs upcoming season of The Voice; Mark Seymour and his daughter Eva; 2024 Australian Idol winner Dylan Wright; and a special cover of Tom Pettyâs I Wonât Back Down by 7NEWSâ Peter Mitchell.
Other guests included The Morning Show and The Chase Australiaâs Larry Emdur; 7NEWSâ presenters Rebecca Maddern and Abbey Gelmi; Sunriseâs Natalie Barr, Matt Shirvington, Edwina Bartholomew and Katie Brown; Dream Home host and Dancing With The Stars co-host Dr Chris Brown; and Better Homes and Gardens presenter and MKR judge Colin Fassnidge.
Also in attendance were Home and Away stars Ada Nicodemou, James Stewart, Emily Weir, Matt Evans and Jessica Redmayne; The Chase Australiaâs Goliath and Smiling Assassin; 7AFLâs Abbey Holmes and Matthew Richardson; Farmer Joe from the new season of Farmer Wants A Wife; and 2024 Dancing With The Stars contestant and comedian Nikki Osborne.
Joining the Channel 7 stars tonight were Chicago The Musicalâs ZoĂ« Ventoura and Peter Rowsthorn; and comedians Ed Byrne, Nazeem Hussein, Ivan Aristeguieta, Christine Ryan, Bron Lewis and Claire Hooper.

300k more than last years total is a great effort but imagine how much more it wouldâve been if it started at 9am.
Even put it on a multichannel for interstate viewers.
Itâs not a Hospital just for the state of Victoria, children from all over the country and in fact all over the world use it too.
Probably wouldnât have made much difference. And i wasnât watching but AFAIK The Morning Show was hosted from the appeal anyway?
Isnât this why we have Government and publically funded healthcare?
No, Hosted from Sydney. Only had some live crosses to Larry from the hospital.
ah ok, well the appeal was covered in the show, anyway.
As much as Iâd love it as an all day event like the old days, Iâm not sure if having a morning telecast would make a huge difference to the total money raised.
Most of the big money is raised from events or companies throughout the year and in the lead up to Good Friday. You could also argue that the crosses during the Morning Show do give it more of a national exposure, which could result in some donations outside of Victoria. The AFL would also have a lot more viewers than an afternoon session, which would also bring in a different audience that might not otherwise watch the appeal (I didnât watch the AFL but I assume itâs pushed a fair bit throughout the telecast).
Most ad-hoc donators probably still would anyway and by reducing the hours you probably hold a more attentive audience if they are watching in the evening. I remember when I was much younger being be a bit burnt out from it by late afternoon after having it on all day.
All in all given the cost of living, to still see the total money raised grow this year is impressive. It couldâve very easily hit a bit of a speed bump.
Stars from Geelong AFL club helped launch the 2025 Good Friday Appeal charity house this week. It was also reported on 7News Melbourne tonight.
This event should start back at 9am no Morning Show .The AFL Footy in Melbourne has completely destroyed this great Easter Tradition I donât know why we need Footy on Good Friday they donât play Cricket on Christmas Day?
We donât have telethons on Christmas Day either.
