ABC don’t want anything to do with her though, so that will be a problem. That said, Gilbert is a vengeful little bitch, so if the spin off goes ahead, I hope it fails. Roseanne launched her career, so to throw her under the bus like she did , as did Fish man, the only thing she’s accomplished what a cheap talk show on the old peoples network?
Again I don’t like the double standards that have played out here, they knew they were getting when they rebooted the sitcom. Yet to take the high moral high grand, after 1 tweet which was vile and racist, but she has been posting potential stuff during the show’s airing that were also controversial. ABC up highly left biased morons.
Can we go without a thread in which your personal views about christian values has nothing to do with this topic? This is about Roseanne and what she said, how it all played out and what the future of the show will be if ABC are stupid enough to keep it going and re branding it the Darlene Show…

I think that’s quite a rude put down for Sara Gilbert’s achievements.
Roseanne attacked their comments but has since “forgiven” them and said that she just wished they had spoken to her, rather than made a public statement. She has also apologised to cast and crew who have lost their jobs because of her. Roseanne also said she was ashamed that black co-star Jayden Rey thinks she does not love her in wake of racist remark.
It was a breach of contract Simple as that. ABC knew she was a risk and have had past experience with her bad behaviour. That’s why they ensured that it was in her contract that if she misbehaved again, it was grounds to end her contract.
Seems that she had already said that making the few episodes this season exhausted her and many are saying it has triggered her mental illness problem again. ABC didn’t take this lightly. It’s a multi-million dollar loss for them but they are avoiding a potentially even worse situation if the show went ahead.

Not rude, at all mate, it’s my opinion. When you turn on someone like that who helped build your career, despite what happened, without getting their side of the story first, says alot about their character to me. See John Goodman was very smart, he kept out of it, or at least maybe chatted with Roseanne in private about what happened. Judging from what he’s said he didn’t know much about it. Alicia Gorsenson didn’t pubic ally attack her, (her twitter account is also private) but addressed the issue in a manner in which was better then Bozo 1 and Bozo two did . Although Michael was hiding behind his words, you could easily tell between the lines. Laurie and John, and Alicia have been the smart ones.
Fishman and Gilbert are nobodies in my opinion.
Roseanne did wrong and she knows that. In time she’ll be able to move on from it. If Kathy Griffin can try and make a comeback for her career (after her picture of a decapitated trump, which was also distasteful) then Roseanne should also do when she chooses too.
I’m not sure what mental health issues you speak of , but I am getting tired of everyone labeling their mistakes on mental health issues, and blaming mental health issues on stupid tweets as what Roseanne has done. She consciously thought it was funny, playing to her audience and it back fired.
Whether she has a mental health issue, is pure speculation on my part and yours too. The tweet was racist, pure and simple. You can’t defend it. But the lynch mob that’s after her, is way out of line though.
As for ABC, they KNEW what they were getting when they hired her. Roseanne is controversial at some point they would have had to accept responsibility in their decision too. They sacked her fine and cancelled the show, fine, but 200 jobs were lost, but yet Joy Behar who is the most dodgiest liberal comedienne I have ever seen, gets to knock and bashs christian and mental health people on her show The View, fake apologises to Mike Pence but keeps her butt in that chair? The View spures out more racist shit , from them then any other network in the USA. (Fox News, okay I’ll grant you that)

Her mental health issues are not speculation at all. She has said in past interviews that she has suffered mental health problems throughout her life.
She has been very open about having a multiple personality disorder, emotional issues and suffered a mental breakdown during the course of her show.
I think you need to look at the wider picture. Yes, she told a racist joke whilst under the influence of alcohol and a sleeping pill but that’s only part of it. She wasn’t sacked for one post but it was the straw that broke the camel’s back. She has been on a Twitter rampage for weeks and continues to post many racist and offensive things, then regretting them and deleting them.

I actually didn’t know that, but still none the less, she will make a comeback at some point. And nor was I excusing her tweet, I’ve said numerous times in this thread it was bad and racist.
In the 1980s, there was a TV series called Valerie, after actress Valerie Harper had a falling out with the producers, the killed off her character and re-named it The Hogan Family… Perhaps they could try and re-coup their losses her here and do the same - re-name it The Conner Family - pilot could be mourning the loss of Roseanne, write in that she died of a heart attack in her sleep and perhaps introduce an old flame of Dan’s as a potential love interest should the series actually work, otherwise play out the series.
Probably won’t happen, just a thought about how ABC could minimise potential losses
Its not my “christian” beliefs, I was just illustrating that the minute someone says something that is deemed offensive by some group, there is a call to give them the boot. Just think about the Israel Folau uproar recently.
I am not supporting her in making here comments - I don’t like Roseanne, but making ABC themselves were to blame for this. I suppose its another case of another one bites the dust. So lets look at the shows networks are now too scared to show - Roseanne, The Cosby Show, Seventh Heaven, Hey Dad!, Love Thy Neighbour, Mind Your Language - all because it may offend of upset someone - AND all except the last two is to do with the conduct of the lead actor outside the show
It won’t happen because Roseanne is a co-producer and owns the rights to this show. That’s the difference with Valerie and Valerie’s Family/The Hogans.
It has been suggested by others but ABC would even be restricted with creating a spin-off with any of the characters because Roseanne owns the characters too. It would have to be something completely new.
You never know how this may play out. If Roseanne feels she owes it to the crew, or if she can still make money out of the deal, she may be up for a spinoff.
So does that mean you think the potential for any spin off is gone and Roseanne will take her bat and ball and go home??
I’m saying that they need her approval to make it happen but right now, it doesn’t looks like the network wants to deal with her at all. And I doubt she wants to do them any favours, in her current state of mind.

Roseanne said a racist thing. Roseanne immediately lost her job because she brought her employer into disrepute. There is pretty much nothing more here and all this weird talk about Michelle Obama and whatever is just foam. Even mental illness isn’t an excuse. There are tons of people out there who deal with mental illnesses without resorting to racism.
All these dumb side arguments are exhausting and change nothing.

Can you not be so aggressive when you post? I ignore your posts now , because I feel you are just attacking anyone who doesn’t seen you world view. Did I say anywhere in my posts that what Roseanne did wasn’t wrong? No I didn’t, even I am condemning it, but my argument is ABC is not exactly clean on this , as they think they are. Never said it changed or would change anything, but it has bought out the real factions of two people who I think were waiting for Roseanne to fall as well as the network too. That’s my opinion and I’m allowed to stick by how I see it.
Also please do not use the lord name’s in vain as a swear towards me I don’t like it, I never have.
But you think that ABC are in on some sort of conspiracy against right wingers, when they were just making sure that the situation they had on their hands did not escalate further.

Sure, because your worldview is that everyone is in conspiracy to bring Roseanne down and to attack people with mental illnesses.
When it’s far more reasonable and fair-minded to just admit that Roseanne was wrong and deserved to lose her job, and that mental illness is not a fair excuse for her racism. As I said, plenty of people get by with mental illnesses and live far worser lives than Roseanne without resorting to racism. She’s just a bigot who can’t admit she made a mistake.
Ignore away. I read your posts. You might accuse me of not liking other’s worldview, but at least I can stand other people posting and then reply with points and critiques when necessary. If I swear or am a bit forward, oh well, deal with it. It seems you can’t handle people responding to you on a forum.

Read my posts I have said that her mistake. And she has to pay for it, but there are other things too I take consideration as well. Okay.
I don’t have a problem with anyone’s view, and I sure can handle other people’s reply to mine. You just twisted mine saying my worldview is a conspiracy theory.
If you go re-read my posts, you will see I condemned her racist twist and sure she has to pay for it, I agree with it, but I also believe that ABC/Disney have to answer for as well considering hiring her, they must have known what they were getting when they hired her to do the reboot in the first place. I also have another rounded view of the situation as well. There’s always a different view and I like to put it forward. She became a liability as soon as they hired her, they all would have known that .
