The Queen’s funeral is the number one television event of 2022 so far with with an audience across all networks of approximately 4.25 million watching linear TV with BVOD and catch up viewing to add to the total later. 3.15 million were in metro areas with another 1.1 million in regional Australia.
Top ranked metro entries included 1,070,000 for ABC’s simulcast of the funeral service on ABC TV and ABC News with Seven’s coverage 975,000 and Nine’s 879,000. ABC’s coverage of the service was also in front in regional Australia with Seven second from Nine.
Seven won the night overall, receiving a boost from its highest rated news service. Nine won Sydney and Brisbane with Seven winning the other three markets. ABC was second in all markets except Brisbane were it was third.
Nine narrowly won the key 25-54 demo with 28.3% from Seven with 28.2% and ABC 25.1%; Seven won 16-39 with 27.7% just 0.3 ahead of ABC and 0.5 ahead of Nine. 10 Bold was the top rated multi in the demos.
