Ratings: My Kitchen Rules builds to finals as Today hits a 2016 high

The Seven network won its eleventh consecutive Wednesday as My Kitchen Rules drew a metro audience of 1,349,000 while Nine’s Today lifted to a 2016 high of 346,000.

Seven’s network share improved to 34.4% while Nine (24.2%) and ABC (16.8%) lost ground with Ten (16.1%) plus SBS (8.5%) steady.

My Kitchen Rules topped the evening on 1,349,000 up from 1,301,000 the previous Wednesday while Seven News was number one across the 6-7pm hour with 1,084,000 and 1,022,000. Home and Away had 776,000 at 7pm with The Chase on 639,000 and 424,000 in the afternoon. Later, the Australian Swimming Championships averaged 485,000.

Nine News had to settle for second with 1,016,000 and 964,000 but A Current Affair (919,000) was number one at 7pm. The Big Bang Theory scored 872,000 for a new episode and 763,000 for a repeat with the afternoon’s Hot Seat next best for the network with 605,000. A split schedule then saw The Secret Life of the Zoo (227,000) and Animal Rescue Thailand (194,000) in three markets with The Footy Show 194,000 in NRL territory.

ABC News (843,000) made the top ten with 7:30 next best for ABC on 603,000. The Weekly with Charlie Pickering (560,0000) and Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery (554,000) scored lower with Luke Warm Sex suffering the biggest fall to 303,000.

Meanwhile, The Project was Ten’s best with 547,000 and 410,000 with Family Feud averaging 500,000 to be next best. Ten Eyewitness News (448,000) and Long Lost Family (401,000) slipped from last week as Madam Secretary edged up to 367,000 and The Good Wife had 232,000.

Over on SBS, Indian Wedding Race (283,000), Vikings (243,000) and The Story of China (216,000) gave the broadcaster its best Wednesday of the 2016 ratings period.

Early on Wednesday, Early Today had 214,000 and Early Sunrise 180,000 with Today later on 364,000 and Sunrise 342,000.
