As Seven’s Big Brother closes in on its final, it recorded its first timeslot win since the premiere episode with an audience of 711,000 tuning in across the five metro areas.
It was well clear of the Season 3 premiere of 10’s Bachelor in Paradise that averaged 507,000, down from Season 2’s 553,000. However, the Bachelor franchise series had a very young audience and was able to rank first in the youngest demographic group 16-39 while Big Brother was first in 25-54 and 18-49.
Overall, Seven had a narrow win in Wednesday night’s ratings with a slightly improved share compared to the previous week. 10 was also able to gain ground while Nine suffered and was down two points. Nine won in Sydney and Brisbane with Seven ahead in AFL territory.
In 25-54 the results were Seven (28.5%), Nine (25.2%), 10 (23.3%), ABC (15.4%) and SBS (7.6%).
In 16-39 it was Seven (29.5%), 10 (26.5%), Nine (22.3%), ABC (14.8%) and SBS (7.0%).
Big Brother’s audience was even with its recent results on its first Wednesday episode since week one while ABC’s line-up of 7:30 (696,000) and Hard Quiz (707,000) ranked second in the post 7.30 timeslot. Next best was Emergency on Nine that improved its audience week-on-week followed by Bachelor in Paradise fourth. On SBS, Tony Robinson’s World By Rail was that network’s top performer with 352,000.
Later, The Weekly got a boost with the return of Hard Quiz while Rosehaven was steady. RBT was the best on a commercial network with 534,000 ahead of The Front Bar with 383,000 and Tommy with 235,000.
The Fronts Bar’s best numbers came from Melbourne with 247,000 to rank ninth in that city. 56,000 watched in Perth (19th), 49,000 in Adelaide (14th) with 24,000 in Sydney and 7,000 in Brisbane.
