Didn’t A Country Practice end with a bush fire where the hospital was burnt down?
I’m assuming that was the Channel 7 last season?

yes that was the Channel 7 finale.

Yes, Season 13, the last on ATN-7. Only the USA’s Fred MacMurray has channel hopped his show and lasted long e.g. Buffy the Vampire Slayer moved from The WB to UPN which is the same as being rescued from the Titanic by the Hindenburg.

I remember vagally watching it as kid. I can also remember they showed a behind the scenes clip show of how they put the push fire scenes together.

Funny that TEN decided to keep the show alive, seeing as how they originally turned the show down when James Davern pitched it back in 1979.

tbf it was 13 years between knocking it back and then picking it up. Management and ownership had changed a number of times during then.

Again, I feel so sorry for Laura Armstrong. Not only had she proved she was a good actress in her Round the Twist episode but with ATV-10 ACP she was hit with a perfect storm – and not just that like so many short older child actresses she was playing a much younger kid.

The cutesy-poo dialogue (“Is it chocolate?”) she had to spout made her character Georgina (“Georgie”) sound like she was Special Needs because Armstrong was short but being short doesn’t regress your face and body’s aging.

1994 was right after Ashley Johnson’s red-haired Chrissy Seaver on Growing Pains had prejudiced many viewers against redheads but Armstrong’s classmates asking if her trousers had been held hostage after they saw the official ATV-10 ACP cast photo in the papers and mags was a bit much. Ouch!

I don’t understand this, at all.

A girl was shamed for wearing a dress/skirt and not pants?? What?? I can’t fathom this. And in 1994? We hadn’t gone all gender-neutral in those days??

And today I learned who Chrissy Seaver was. I have literally never heard of that person or character until today. I am not sure she was the OG cutesy child in an American sitcom. Full House at the very least would have predated her by some years??

Most Aussie schools didn’t allow trousers as part of the uniform for girls until the late 1990s - Mullauna my HS in Mitcham did it in 1998 (i did a three year VCE because of my disability).

Michelle Tanner wasn’t a Shoehorned Kid/rapidly aged between seasons like Chrissy Seaver or Andy Keaton on Family Ties. Michelle Tanner is more like Nixon in the '72 election: Michelle-themed merch outsold the other FH merch and she was super popular but now she’s “dead as disco” in popularity and admitting to have liked her is well, yes.

BTQ-7 stuff from February 1979

Any ideas of when Ten Sydney used this PRG? Was on a tape with 1980 and 1983 recordings.

My guess is 1980 as AFAIK Ten in Sydney had changed logo (early?) in 1983

Yeah, I managed to find the airdate via Trove (July 29 1980):

It would be interesting to know the ins and outs of In Vision Continuity since 1956. I recall GTV9 reintroducing it at the start of one of the Apollo missions with nice spacey scapes on set, stating at the time that it was a permanent change. It did last awhile after the mission I feel but not too long.

I love how the Midday Movie is still a thing for the Seven Network even after all these years. :joy:

It just needs an opener like the old NBC / ATN one from the 1980s!

From memory the Midday Movie also had that opener.

I think I have asked this before who is the voice over person? I remember him doing Seven’s promos in the early 2000’s as well. Very distinctive voice.

That would be Matthew O’Sullivan, who now does voice promos for most of Nine’s news programming.
