Random TV History

For a period in the 1960s GTV9 used Television City News - at least in guides, just a little before my time.

Before my time also, but I believe the name was in reference to the Bendigo Street studios being known as ‘Television City’ :slightly_smiling_face:

What ever happened to Elle McFeast?

In todays more image and health conscious society, she would have to call herself Elle McChickenWrap.

Did they also use that name at 6, or did the “SC Nightly News” brand (initially under that look of that logo IIRC) come in a year or two later?

Using “SCTV News” during the day would have mirrored what Seven metro was doing, where the “Nightly” brand was (obviously) only for the evening news and it was just “Seven News” during the day. And as you say, the brand would have just changed from “SC Network” to “SC Television” then so it wouldn’t have totally sounded out of place.

At least they worked out a decent enough re-wording of the Seven News “nobody knows news like…” jingle of the time.

Just dropped the previous message. Accessed the links and indeed they work very much well for me. It looks like they’re testing out things before they eventually launch fully on November 8th (the day of their 25th anniversary, by the way).

@TelevisionAU Just a little SES-8 for everyone here:

Legend. Thank you for that. You wouldn’t happen to know what this music is that is used on the MTN9 Griffith news from 1986? That one has also drawn a blank. https://youtu.be/P-j1LOdiUuY?si=kHuxr8JScvEoYNy6

I very rarely frequent the TV section of MediaSpy (I’m a radio nut) so, hello to the 99%.

I was surprised to find a Prime ‘This is where we live’ promo that features Bungendore! I’m pretty sure the uploader is a contributor here, so thankyou for this.

That was one of the most annoying iterations of the This is Where we Live songs probably a close second being the summer of the year 2000 ads. I am glad you enjoyed that one I grew up until I was 15 in the area so know it well. My favourite would be the song from 1995 the long version of this.
