Random TV History

Continuing on with The discussion of the Sydney Olympic Games 2000, did some of the Australian Programming on Nine (Burke’s Backyard ,Sale of Century etc.) and 10 (shows such as Neighbours, GMA, Cheez TV and Totally Wild) go on hiatus during the games? Because during Paris 2024, I know that Seven’s The Latest did go on hiatus.

I work with a lot of disabled people and all I can say is thank god we have moved a long way forward in how we treat those with a disability.

Has anyone got any other tapes recorded from Seven in Western Australia or any other state/territory on January 1 of 2000 (Apart from what is currently on Youtube which were recorded from Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland)?

1984 AMV4 Christmas Tape. Fair to say that there is absolutely no way that anyone would get away with producing such a thing these days. https://youtu.be/YTNN0L8sT_4?si=bouw1Rm88Do7XT0U

Absolutely revolting. What moral corruption.

I have seen a lot worse on a blooper tape from the 80s including a footballer in a change room who drops his pants on camera and masturbates on screen. No joke.

regardless, its in poor taste. This makes the very short lived Uncle Dougs Naughtiest Home Videos seem tame. Even Kerry Packer had the sense to say to “get the shit off the air” (or something similar) part way through the broadcast. I think that the US Sitcom Cheers was used as filler content for the remainder of the programs scheduled run time.

It was not screened on air. It was an internal thing, compiled to screen at a Christmas Party for staff only.

As poor taste as they may be for workplace efforts, these goof tapes were never intended for public broadcast.

Cheers was already cued up for playback following Naughtiest Home Videos, they just started it earlier than scheduled.

one has to question how its been allowed to be released due to the possible reputational damage to the individuals as well as the organisation given that fact. its an integrity and conduct matter

it hasn’t been “allowed for release”. It will be just from some ex employee that’s had the vhs tape gathering dust somewhere all this time, so they’ve uploaded it 40 years later. If anyone objects to it then I am sure YouTube has some reporting mechanism. But for all we know, the uploader may even have consent from individual(s) in the tape.

i dont think you get what I am getting at. There are so many potential legal issues arising from that video being uploaded and the only way for it to be taken down is a large number of complaints.

One legal issue that is really serious is the use of the video. If the some or all of the footage being used is being used beyond the original purpose, it could be a breach of the rights of those appearing on the said video. You have to think when this video was made, no one in Australia had heard of this think called the internet. This was back in a time when most information was essentially a paper trail.

Im not going to argue about whether it was allowed, consent etc as this is really a legal minefield in the same was as distributing intimate material involving a partner or former partner. The part i take exception to is the exposure of the ladys breasts in the feature film
