Does anyone have a Weber Baby Q? If so, do you recommend them? I’m wanting to purchase one myself.

It must be really easy to buy fireworks if you know where to get them. I spotted this on social media.

Are they still freely available in the ACT? I remember hearing plenty of stories about people bringing fireworks over the border but I was under the impression the laws had been changed.

Yes, the laws changed some years ago. You can’t buy them in the ACT.

Can you still buy porn in the ACT? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve had a few of them pretending to be the ATO or Centrelink. They are usually in broken English with phrases slightly wrong, saying Australian Tax Office instead of Australian Taxation Office, for instance. I haven’t been on social security since 1978, and I pay any outstanding tax on time, so I’m always 100% sure that they are a scam.

Yes, it’s disgusting. My late Grandma used to get these calls all the time before she went into care, she had Alzheimer’s and had signed herself up to 4 phone/internet plans each month, plus all the other scams we were able to stop before any money got out.

About a year ago I received an invoice from one of our usual contractors at work that was sent in a different format to his other invoices - not to mention that when I clicked on the invoice it took me to a different address. I emailed him to check that it was ok to open the invoice and he replied that it was fine. Still suspicious, I ended up calling him and sure enough, someone had hacked into his computer and was sending invoices to all his current (and former) clients. It really creeped me out to know that the hacker had replied to my email though.

When my elderly aunt passed away we discovered she’d been caught up in multiple money scams where they claim they have a lot of money to give you but you have to pay money to get it. It was heartbreaking to see how they took advantage of her.

I deal with this sort of stuff all the time, it’s scary to know how common it is - and how much of it goes undetected. With my IT hat on - if you can implement multi factor authentication (where you get a code from your phone, preferably not text or email) and always remain vigilant and suspicious of things then it’s good. You did a good job calling the guy to confirm. Many people pay the invoices and open themselves to a whole world of trouble, a lot of people who are quite smart but are just busy and not thinking do it too.
One interesting thing we’ve found with the way they do it is when they’re in your email (usually the webmail version, so they don’t need to access your computer) they create a rule so that all your new mail goes to a random folder like “RSS Feeds” (because nobody ever uses that one anymore!) and then they monitor and reply to people who are asking if it’s legit and then deleting the evidence. If it’s normal email they just move it to the Inbox then and so the people who have had their accounts compromised don’t suspect a thing.

I know it was a minor mistake in the greater scheme of things, so I thought I’d post it in the right thread.

Same with just mixing up two letters can leave a word completely urined.
