Heat, by the sound of things. Guessing a whole bunch of people over-exerting themselves.
Massive brawl?
Must be those half-priced lobsters.
Seems a bit odd, though. The temperature peaked in the low-30s this afternoon, and where I was there was even a coolish breeze in the afternoon, and the temp is back down to the 20s this evening, so itās not like weāve had a 40+ heatwave or anything which is usually the sort of trigger for heat-related cases.
could also be from the fire from mt Cottrell as well. asthma-related maybe and causing people breathing problems
could be, but thatās a fairly localised issue. That alone shouldnāt be enough to buckle the whole system.
Ambulance Victoria declared last night a āCode Redā.
Danny Hill, secretary of the Victorian Ambulance Union, said the warm night ā temperatures did not drop below 20 degrees in Melbourneās CBD ā coupled with eased COVID-19 restrictions and staff shortages had led to Monday nightās perfect storm.
āSometimes hot nights are a little bit worse. Peopleās ailments normally keep them up late and if you canāt sleep, they reach crisis point and thatās when they dial triple zero,ā he said.
āWhat has happened since COVID is that a lot of people have been either not getting into their GP or not taking the time to see their GP. They think, āI will just deal with it later.ā That can lead to having a situation where things get so bad they just call an ambulance.ā
āAnd since restrictions have eased, itās been incredibly busy. Busier than it was before lockdown. The workload is getting to a point where [paramedics] are working overtime shifts, working late and not getting their meal breaks.ā
There is nothing really special about last night beyond it was a bit warm. There are going to be more warm nights. Itās quite concerning that we donāt have enough paramedics on the road at the moment to be able to deal with that safely."
Weāre not not supposed to use nicknames at my workplace, as kids are likely to use them in the wrong way. Mind you, Iāve been given some shitty nicknames and Iāve kept kids on detention for using them.
This from the guy who has nicknamed himself .
In what way? What have I called myself here at MS besides my username?
Oh, I beg your pardon. I didnāt realise ElCapitanCranky was your real name.
Iām just saying that nicknames are a common thing in Australia and probably used more in this country than most of the world. For example, a lot of people here have said that their username is their nickname.
I have multiple nicknames, as a lot of you will realise. But ElCapitanCranky isnāt my real name, obviously.
I thought people were going to start listing everything Iāve referred to myself as on this forum. You lot would have a frigginā field day.
@nickatnights what line of work are you in? Literally 100 people and no one has a nick name? Not even one person who just calls everyone by a random nick name?
