Aaaand… show cancelled. Dan Hill is jocking on Fox now.
[/quote]Not 100% sure as I missed the start of Dan’s last break, but I’m pretty sure he said that they were still working on getting Hamish and Andy back on today.

I’m thinking it might have taken / be taking longer to get networking back up and running and H&A will be on after 5.

Seems Fox has rejoined the network - Tim Lee and now a Hamish and Andy highlight running.

This is the first major blackout to have hit SCA since it moved to new premises at South Melbourne a couple of years ago.
Will this affect Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth which are getting Hamish and Andy on delay?

Yes - can confirm that hit105 Brisbane is playing exactly the same as what 2Day did.

Tim has also confirmed that Hamish and Andy will be live on air after the 5pm news.

@TripleMMelb hi. listening to Melb 3MMM on the digital app its playing sydney ads..promos & traffic report..is this due to issues earlier?

Just part of the aftermath of that transformer explosion. Between that, the crane fire, an irate passenger at Bell Station and now a severe thunderstorm warning, it seems we don’t do the heat well in Melbourne!

Just wondering when you buy an electrical device is there a certain standard it needs to follow so it does not interfere with radio? Got an electrical bike and when charging it interferes quite badly with am radio. Got the charger replaced still the same. What is interesting is different frequencies are affected with the replacement one. We are talking a fair distance from on side of the house to a garage in the backyard. I am sure it would impact the neighbours.

Yes there is a standard, & the product should be certified that it meets that standard.

If it’s been certified, it will have a C-Tick (logo/label) on it.

Google C-Tick for more info.

If it’s not certified, contact the manufacturer/distributer & find out why not, & perhaps get your money back & buy different one.

Technically products are not allowed to be sold in Australia unless they are certified & have the C-Tick.

ACMA might like to know about it too.

Belinda Carlisle interview on Studio 10 last Friday (ahead of her concert at Rooty Hill RSL that night):
Interviewer: What do you think of people who think that Our Lips are Sealed is actually "Alex the Seal"
Belinda: That only happens in Australia. I was first told that story in the 80s when I was in Sydney at a radio station that overlooked the bridge.

I bet that interview was with Ian Grace or Charlie Fox.

So the once mighty 2SM continues to impact upon pop culture 28 years after it stopped rocking Sydney.

Great story. Shame that today it continues to impact only upon the four people who listen to Lawsy of a morning.

Drove through Legacy Way tunnel today and was surprised that in addition to the Brisbane stations that are relayed in other Brisbane tunnels River 949 and 101 from Logan were also relayed.

Have the fixed 612 ABC? It sounded like it was off channel a few weeks back

Australia Lost a Radio Station, but This Pirate DJ Lost a Dream” - A VICE interview with the operator of former pirate station IRIE FM, broadcasting on 99.4 around Wollongong.

@ TV.Cynic
That’s very interesting. The last time I was in the Clem7 and AirportLink tunnels River 94.9 wasn’t relayed (annoyingly also no DAB stations were on air in the tunnels either). I wonder if the Legacy Way tunnel falls just inside the licenced broadcast zone for River 94.9…? I’m sure the “local” Brisbane FM stations wouldn’t be happy River is allowed into the Legacy Way tunnel

Also interesting for a community station for the Southern Suburbs 101 to be relayed. The reception for 94.9 was pretty poor in the tunnel as well as the area just outside.

It has been a while since I’ve been in the Clem7 but even a few months ago, searching for stations in the tunnel my radio would stop on the Gold Coast frequencies. It was always static but has made me think during an announcement they broadcast on Gold Coast channels as well. Never been in the tunnel to try it when a delay is announced.

I think that that is just a function of their system set up to transmit something every 800MHz so if it is transmitting on 102.1 an 103.7 it will put a blank signal on 102.9. similar to 93.3 - 92.5 etc - but that’s is just what I thought when I noticed that as well.

That thought crossed my mind too! Only happens in the Clem7, not APL

Former 2HD/Supernetwork afternoons and 2NUR Mornings announcer Meryl Swanson has announced she will run for Labor preselection for the seat of Patterson in the lead up to this year’s election. More in the Maitland Mercury.

The Youtube Hits Vlog contains some footage from inside the station during the power outage. It looks like they actually lost power a second time, not long after power was restored. The video also manages to somewhat give a tour of the radio station for those interested. Watch from 6:31
