I don’t think Gen Y-Zs care about sound quality that much, they’ve grown up with MP3s etc. Most of them have probably not heard vinyl or CDs on a good quality system.

I agree. They don’t even realise they’ve gone backwards in sound quality.

I thought Rebel/Breeze had pretty much a generic ‘state’ feed for the Remote licence area… ie. ads and everything for all QLD markets outside of Beaudesert/SE QLD.

NSW I understand get a different ad feed (but the same music as QLD).

No, not at all. Both Rebel and Breeze have local feeds in Wide Bay. It’s all Maryborough, Bundaberg and Hervey Bay ads there, and local weather etc. They sound more local that Triple M and Hit most of the time.

I wonder how many other radio callsigns out there were named after people rather than location, or letters that made some vague reference to the area they served…

Re S39 FM licences, most are somewhat self explanatory… but a few I’ve never really understood

2WZD 93.1 Wagga Wagga - a vague reference to Wagga, but the ZD part has me baffled.
2WSK 94.9 Nowra - no idea
2ICE 107.9 Lithgow - a vague weather reference being on the Tablelands?
2SNO 93.5 Goulburn - another vague weather one?

Yeah, why SNOW FM is 2SKI while 2SNO is a different station makes no sense.

It very rarely snows in Goulburn in any case. 2FRO (frost) would have been a better choice.
