Random Radio

That Triton may have been bought in Nowra (before 2022) and then transferred to Warragul Victoria, going via Cooma.

Just a random bit of info

River949 gets into the top of Mount Mowballan WIN TV site very well, RDS decides within a few seconds

I think they’re the default factory settings, with one at each end of the dial, one in the middle and 603 being an odd one. Probably a bit of a coincidence that 2 of them are/were Nowra stations.

Probably one or two others as well, unusual for a radio to only have four presets, usually have at least five.

Re re car radio screen; does River 949 have their RDS TA flag on during playing of music?
Or is that the car radio setting re TA?

Nah it is a setting I can push to search for a traffic announcement

They’re some of the default presets on cars when no presets are set and power is connected to the tuner.

It’s disappointing the Triton doesn’t go to AM 1710.

I’m not surprised, are you @gordo92 ?

Have you heard a traffic announcement on any station in this region?

Probably impressive only because of the amount of noise a high power TX site can generate that can wash it out.

If it was at the top of any hill without a high power TX nearby, I wouldn’t bat an eyelid at that getting that, in fact, I would be surprised if I couldn’t get it (at approx 120 km away).

Given the fact that between the WIN and BAI site there is 3x DTV running at 5kw each and 2 at 7.5kw and then 4x FM services at 20kw each all before antenna gain it.is kinda surprising.
Can also hear Toowoomba FM services up there quite well to

“A local celebrity”, really?

How many would’ve known of Peter Lang prior to being on breakfast? Over egging the word celebrity a fair amount?

Was probably fairly well known on the Sunshine Coast back in the day when he was on air since 4SS was the only local radio station.

At least the Triton ad presets make sense.

Southern Cross Austereo have definitely started using computer generated voices for their weather bulletins, at least here in the MIA (hit/MMM). Here is a sample of one.

It sounds so obviously robotic. Although they do still do have an actual person reading the weather updates during the morning weekday programs.

Think someone mentioned this for another market recently too. A good idea in theory but poorly executed.
