Yes they are. They used to be glued to 4KQ before.
Given how popular those stupid oversized trucks are, probably 10k or so, but I would have thought Triple M would have the compensatory ute market sewn up.
All car radios are basically software at this point, so itâd be a firmware change to change it over - something to do at the same time as loading up local maps or killing HD/XM radio.
I notice SENTrack is back on air on 801 am seems to be full power, can get it at Hornsby. 1539 am SENTrack seems to be a bit stronger. 1170 am audio seems to be better, it was horrible a couple of months ago, not that I regularly listen. The dab feed seems to be reasonable 32k. Seems SEN has done some overdue maintenance recently.
I still listen to 4BH when Iâm working in the RSPCA laundry room.any radios in animal holding sections (dogs and cats )now on ABC Classic FM,classical music is good for calming most animals
Somethingâs going on at SeaFM Sunshine Coast.
They now have no brekkie team, no workday announcer and only a drive duo.
Surely youâd just (for the interim) put the drive duo on brekkie?
Weird what happens when your content director leaves.
Certainly within a couple of weeks as people return to work and school starts again.
This is what the formats of Melbourneâs commercial stations should be.
Fox: 21st Century Classic Hits (Greatest Hits from 2000 to Now plus newer songs from older artists)
Triple M: Mainstream Rock & Sport
KIIS (rebranded as CADA 101.1): Hip Hop
Gold: 20th Century Classic Hits (Greatest Hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s & 90s plus newer songs from older artists)
Nova: Top 40/Pop & Music trending on Tik Tok/Instagram/YouTube Shorts
Smooth: Easy Listening
Yeah Cada with a tiny audience on DAB in Melbourne will really work well on 101.1!
FOX is rating pretty well as it is, if it ainât broke, donât fix it. Ditto Gold and Smooth.
I think 3AW should go CHR.
I can see the 3AW Black Thunders handing out icy cold Bertocchi Hams
Bring back 3XY Hot Hits! Even hotter in AM Stereo!
Wasnât AM Stereo a failure. All of the AM/FM radios I have seen old and new can only do stereo on the FM band.
Why would you think that. It is already at the top of the ratings.
those are jokes, Joyce.
Also the âhotter in AM stereoâ IIRC was a tagline used in 3XYâs ads at the time
Yes thatâs why i mentioned that. I remember seeing the ad in a âCountdownâ magazine with that tagline and a melted boombox.
I used to buy that magazine every month, along with âSmash Hitsâ. I wish i still had them!
AM stereo was only ever in a few select cars like higher grade Mitsubishi Magnas and Holden Commodores from 1987 to 1990.
DAB radio has been much more successful comparatively, even that hasnât set the world on fire.
Agree DAB is more successful overall, but the big difference is AM stereo was rolled out to a lot of regional stations/areas which hasnât happened for DAB unfortunately.
I saw this on the SEN website.
"SEN 1170 AM has received approval from ACMA to increase our signal power during the daytime and reverting to the current power at night.
This will be done, on 21st November 2022 when SEN 1170 will be increasing their signal power to 10kWâs for a period of three months.
At the conclusion of this time frame, pending no significant complaints from listeners living in the transmitter area, the increase will remain permanent.
The increase in signal will be controlled via DAY/NIGHT switching and will be confined to daylight hours, the signal at night will be automatically returned to normal current power of 5kWâs."
Does anyone know if it was approved? It does feel like its stronger the signal.
Yep, its on the ACMA website, with a special condition that if there is interference complaints they must return to 7.5kw until the issue is resolved
Also of note and not sure if this has been noted before but 2GB which is on the same site has been allowed a power increase from 6kw to 8kw with the same conditions as SEN
