Some sad news with the passing of John Kerr last month. Worked on many stations but for me will be best known as the host of the overnight “New Day Australia” on 2UE in the 1990s and 2000s. Redirecting...
Did you hear what it was??
No, But i checked the website this morning at about 7am and a new giveaway was on it.
It has been another tough year on the region and on our pockets.
So we are excited to purchase gifts locally, and fill Santa’s Sleigh with gifts that YOU need this Christmas, our elves could be stopped at your place!
Tell us what gift you need this Christmas from a local store, and Santa’s Elves could be arriving in a Sleigh to your place!
Ok, very disappointing, I was hoping for some major programming changes.
Maybe next year after the next survey when the ratings across the Illawarra are close to a *
But the problem is this strategy is pulling down both the ratings of Wave and Power fm, and delivering i98 25 + shares.
Maybe Wollongong is just too small a market for ARN to put any effort into?
I98 is like Winx, no one can beat it
WIN X - is that a new WIN station!?
(given they own i98)
Very good pickup, maybe if dab+ comes to the Illawarra it could be their Gen X station.
Then why isn’t it on radio 94.1 Gold Coast?
That John Kerr also worked at 2UE, but never lived in Goodna or or Pinjarra Hills.
I think I, and a few other people have egg on our faces. It seems that is more than one John Kerr in radio and the one I am thinking of is not the one that passed away. Given they are of similar age, an easy mistake to make.
Is that confirmed? So it’s not 2UE’s John Kerr?
One of the volunteers working in the RSPCA laundry room changed the radio in there to Triple M.I noticed when I was working in there this weekend and I couldn’t be bothered changing the station
If you have to listen to one of the 4 mainstream commercial FM stations in Brisbane they are the best out of a bad lot.,they’re not great either.
It’s not footy season now so they don’t have sports on the weekends now, unless they have some cricket matches sometimes, not sure if they still do.
Maybe someone got bored with listening to 4BH
Is that at Wacol? Can you get River 94.9?
It is Wacol, next time I’m there I’ll try to get them on the radio.
I did try to get The Breeze on that radio one day ,no good.
Yes, River 949 comes in loud and clear in Wacol. Clear line of sight to the transmitter. Anywhere from Jindalee south along the Western Freeway has perfect reception.
Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) and Phonographic Performance Company of Australia (PPCA), representing the Australian musical artists, are seeking an Amendment Bill, called Fair Pay for Radio Play, to the Copyright Act 1968 to remove restrictions limiting the Copyright Tribunal’s ability to determine the amount payable to rights holders in sound recordings.
This would be great to see how music radio would. be disrupted if royalties were increased and stations refused.
There would need to be a move to talk programming quickly. Who would innovate and who would suffer?
A great time to be alive.
I did try to get River 94.4 today while I was working in the RSPCA laundry room, the reception wasn’t the best ,crappy old radio in there…Maybe I would need to move the radio but there’s no where else to place it it’s an ancient mini hifi system with CD player and tape deck.
Power 94.9 has been working on a “special project that merges Christmas and Music” and will be revealed at breakfast tomorrow.
It will probably be just as underwhelming as some other recent ‘special announcements’.
Here’s your answer:
Can never understand the logic of running a promotion across two stations. Coke and Pepsi wouldn’t “team up” for Christmas and neither should radio.
