Suspect there’s no stereo broadcast-quality feed of 2QN. In the North East Broadcasters days pre-the Ace acquisition, 3NE’s FM repeaters were all mono: I believe they still are, actually.

102.5 Edge FM Deni is a weak signal in Shepparton itself. 102.1 Wang ditto, sometimes there is co-channel interference with an ABC station in Swan Hill.

And Edge from Deniliquin has a non directional pattern.

The 106.1 is much lower powered and has a very directional pattern towards Deniliquin. Doesn’t even make it to Echuca. So it would be fine to reuse in Wangaratta.

I was just listening to the Triple J Unearthed station, and heard:

Tones and I - “Dance Monkey”

I suppose she was an Unearthed artist at one stage, but still…

It’s worth noting that “Dance Monkey” was #4 in the Hottest 100 of 2019. For the record, the #1 song that year was “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish, which has since become a commercial radio staple.

Exactly, but then so was Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus etc.

Does anyone know if the XCD Micro DAB+ Hi-Fi System with Speakers from JB-Hi-Fi has an external antenna port, and will a 3.5mm to PAL adaptor work if its 3.5mm?

This one?

In my experience, nearly all HiFi systems have a combined external FM / DAB antenna port (with F type connector), if you have a JB store near you, see if they have one in stock that you can look at?

On Triple J Unearthed?

Unearthed is Unearthed.
Everyone has got to start somewhere.

I’m guessing they look at which record label they were with on first release to determine whether they play them or not? If on a major one like Sony, Warner or Universal, that would probably be an automatic NO.

yeah I will… nearest one in stock is Melbourne so wanted to find out before hand if i could but its okay I was planning on going anyway… Need a dose of Metro TV O.T.A.

The way I look at it, is that Triple J Unearthed is about new artists that Triple J discovers and promotes. So it would have to be someone they discovered but it wouldn’t necessarily have to be someone fresh right now. It can be someone they were responsible for discovering and promoting.

Spiderbait would be the classic Triple J unearthed act, as well as Missy Higgins. The thing that bugged me when I listened to the Jays (late 90s/early 2000s) is that they mostly dumped music that they unearthed which later became popular, in favour of the more obscure. Apparently it was a broader church in the Double J and early 2JJJ days in the 80s…even Michael Jackson got a run.

Steve Price is returning to radio next week, launching the country’s first daily digital live streamed show Australia Today, with Natarsha Belling as co-host.
The show debuts on Wednesday, April 7 at 7am AEST via the LiSTNR app.

Hot Tomato signage at an NRL game in Sydney.

I know it’s a Titans home game, but the game hasn’t even started yet, so unlikely to have been seen by anyone north of the border.

LOL, anyone at the ground who were to tune their radio to 102.9FM as a result of that ad will probably find either 2ST Bowral (I would’ve thought it’d be the station you’d most likely pick up on that frequency in Kogarah, although I could be wrong) or Triple M Newcastle instead of Hot Tomato!

Agree, most likely 2ST FM as per RDS.

So that was his ‘big’ announcement? Anti-climatic to me. No return to any broadcast medium. Also wipes Belling out as fill in on Seven’s morning show, the few mins I saw today, she was a welcome substitute.

Must’ve got it cheap.

Can’t afford a specific music log for the station, yet somehow spending money on digital signage at an NRL venue.
