Random Mocks

The only reason I had it 3D was to simulate it being animated and the NEWS text would fly in or something.

SCA’s branding really does look similar to Ten’s branding…

Mock for The Today Show

What font is that?
Apart from the weird looking numerals, the rest appears to be a Helvetica typeface.

I quickly made this mock so it’s a bit messy. The font is Kohinoor Gujarati Bold @TV-ACT

Sorry, it’s not good.

I don’t understand why you need to rush to do a mock? The font is bad, the colours clash, the edges of your boxes in your lower 3rd don’t line up and I don’t understand why this would be an improvement on the current graphics they have?

That’s like saying I quickly built this house so it’s a bit unstable but here it is anyway.

Put it up when it’s finished, don’t just bang it out.

I appreciate the feedback guys, but my mock isn’t as bad as the others that are posted here… ;D

I don’t understand why people will rush a mock?
Take more time and effort into mocks otherwise I wouldn’t bother posting them tbh. No one wants to see a rush job.
I hate the fact that people are admitting they’re “crappy” and “rushed” but post them anyway.

It looks okay in my opinion. If you had more time, it could be better but it’s fine as it is.

No doubt there’s going to be a tonne of “WIN and SCA after July 1” mocks posted in this thread soon but to get the ball rolling, a quick re-edit of what we really should be seeing used by the Nine-affiliated WIN stations…yes, inspired by a logo NBN only really use for event sponsorship and the like:

RE-EDIT9WINLogo

Realistically, I’d probably expect WIN’s current and infamous map of Australia “watermark” to continue along with the return of the same old Nine logo coverup BS (perhaps in a slightly updated form).

I’d only expect to see this if Nine bought WIN, and probably only temporarily.

Honestly? These posts should be flagged and removed. It’s a waste of bandwidth for one, and a waste of time when there has been plenty of good advice posted here about how to make mocks that aren’t ‘some text on a background’.

Totally agree. Countless times advice has been given to users about creating great mocks. You don’t need to spend $$$$ on Photoshop. Free alternatives such as getpaint.net exist which (while not as advanced as PS) are still quite flexible.

Another good option is Gimp which is another free alternative to PS

WIN News post-July 1:

Although not 100% perfect, hopefully my attempt (particularly titlecard wise) is reasonably close to what we might actually see on TV in a few months time. Of course I just couldn’t resist including a Nine News watermark coverup! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Agreed. The Guide to Mocking has been suggested several times, and advice has always been given. If people aren’t willing to improve, their access to post mocks in this thread should be revoked until they can prove that they can improve their quality and skills.

It turns out this may be exactly what we see, if TV Blackbox’s report is correct (see WIN Television - #6898 by KevinPerry)

PS: But I’d expect no cover-ups of 9News branding.
