It’s ok, a good starting point.
Firstly, with the Today logo in the first pic, either make the font bolder or the logo larger. And the Nine logo is lost in the sun, so either change the colour or add a gradient so it’s more prominent.
Second pic is good. I would say the flipper should be a different colour - black doesn’t look inviting for commercial television (although the ABC would beg to differ). The gradient of the orange bar also means the words are hard to make out, particularly “Face” and “Sydney”. Maybe make the bar orange on the left hand side and gradually lightening as it goes left. Same critique with the TODAY logo too, the font is too thin that I reckon you’d have trouble on SDTV.
Those are all minor in the scheme of things and I actually like the idea you’ve put forward a lot!

Thoughts? I don’t want to make the logo much bolder, as I personally like the thin font. Just finding the balance

Flag the orange it’s too intense, remove the ticker and change the font. Feels very 7.

I like the ideas. I would like to see them move away from a box behind the logo though. Bit of weight on it is better and boxless IMO. Only reason I say this is that the logo is lost on the lower thirds with the text being so bold and heavy.
I would also move away from a middle gradient on some of the elements as well. On TV it won’t translate as well and they can seem a bit vortex like.
