Radio Stations - Music Logs

I don’t mind Zinc either, and will often listen in for the midday countdown to hear what is on that day. If I don’t like it, there’s always the Gr8ies on River 949 at the same time

I assume you’re referring to the “20-20 Retro Countdown”, which in my part of the world airs on 2ST (via 102.9 from Bowral) at the same time. The same program airs at 7pm weeknights on River 949.

That’s the one.

Why can’t we listen to River 94.9 for 1 week in our rotation of radio stations at my workplace?:confused:I miss being able to listen to them

Why not, is it because of reception?

Fairly safe playlist except for a handful of ‘unflogged’ songs. Not what it used to be.

It’s because everyone has to be listening to the same station

I thought by “we” you meant everyone.

Given the recent discussions about 2GO on the relevant threads (particularly the “Central Coast Radio” thread) on the wake of Sarah & Paddy’s axing, I thought it be worth unearthing some of the past 2GO logs that I’ve done from the days of when they had its own music log & dominated in the local radio ratings, both overall & in the 40-54s. I’ve originally posted those on the old MS forums back in the day, which are now inaccessible, so I thought it’s worth sharing again for historical purposes of what the station used to sound like.

Below are some of the logs from 2007 & 2008.
A brief background: In those days, 2GO & Sea FM were owned by Macquarie Regional Radioworks (later Macquarie Southern Cross Media, after it merged with Southern Cross Broadcasting in mid-2007), which as the name suggests, focused on regional markets, with no assets in metro markets, unlike under the current SCA ownership. Therefore, 2GO wasn’t part of the Triple M network. Rival station Star 104.5 had a rock format back then & was rating way behind 2GO.

107.7 2GO

"Jump" Van Halen
"Pictures of You" The Last Goodnight
"Rocket Man" Elton John

As you can see, back in those days, 2GO played plenty of 70s & 80s music, and wasn’t as reliant on the ‘90s-now’ compared to today under the network log from the Gold Coast that is present on most Triple M regional stations.

It’s little wonder why regional commercial radio stations are not as interesting now compared to what it was a decade ago. :frowning:

Thought I should take a listen to the station (somewhat) formerly known as ‘The Edge’, now streaming again under ACE Radio ownership, and…

Edge FM 102.1

What more do I have to say :face_vomiting:

Yep - It’s got worst and is still very female skewed.

I can see why they are losing listeners.

Welcome to the usual logs for New Year’s Eve around the world! This year I’ve gone a little different in that a couple of the East Coast logs are longer than the normal 2 hours leading into midnight. This has required me to listen to streams on my laptop and tablet as well as the local station through my phone at the same time. I’ve also added the odd comment that may or may not be agreeable, plus in the NZ log which is replaying a countdown there’s an explanation as to why a certain song was ranked inside the top 10. So without further ado…

TOP 100/Rock 1500 (pronounced One Thousand Five Hundred) Countdown

10:24: Linkin Park – In The End (No 15) [For Whom the Bell Tolls by Metallica was 16, November Rain 17, Walk by Pantera was 18]
10:28: Tool – Forty Six and Two
10:34: Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven
10:47: Disturbed – The Sound of Silence
10:51: Metallica – Master of Puppets
Commercial Break
11:04: Highly Suspect – My Name is Human (Suspect this is a Kiwi band)
11:08: Soundgarden – Black Hole Sun
11:14: Foo Fighters – Everlong
11:17: Limp Bizkit – Nookie (A listener/DJ campaigned for this and it got to number 7, expect something similar in the Aussie 100 for MMM listeners on Australia/Invasion/Survival/What used to be Hottest 100 DAY. It was 829 in the previous year’s count)
11:22: Lynryd Skynyrd – Free Bird
11:32: Shihad – Home Again (Kiwi Band)
11:36: Linkin Park – Numb
11:39: Pearl Jam – Black (13th last year)
Commercial break
11:48: Metallica – One
11:54: Rage Against the Machine - Killing In The Name (and they even played the part where he says F-You I won’t do what you tell me)

Except for Disturbed, that’s a awesome log. :grinning:

I’m hoping to be up about 5AM tomorrow morning (and given the weather here it’s a possibility, sweating buckets at 9:15PM) so I can do a couple of hours from a South African Rock Station, just for something very different.

8:35: Madness – House of Fun

8:50: Steve Earle – Copperhead Road
8:55: Blink 182 – What’s My Age Again
8:58: Peter Gabriel – Sledgehammer
9:02: Australian Crawl – Louie Louie (Did Eddie slip this one in to ensure a final salute to Lou Richards who died in May 2017?)
9:07: Silverchair – Ana’s Song (Open Fire)
9:11: Gary Numan – Are “Friends” Electric
9:17: Guns n Roses – Paradise City

10:46: David Bowie – Modern Love
10:50: Bon Jovi – Bad Medicine
10:54: Tonic – Open Up Your Eyes
10:57: Chumbawumba – Tubthumping (it will be 20 years in 2018 since the NRL used THIS song as their song for the reunified Rugby League competition. Didn’t quite hit the mark like Simply The Best or That’s My Team)

11:04: Iggy Pop (feat. Kate Pierson) - Candy
11:09: Smashing Pumpkins – Bullet with Butterfly Wings
11:13: Electric Light Orchestra – Don’t Bring Me Down
11:17: Divinyls – Pleasure and Pain (when our footy team up here were sponsored by a certain pub every Saturday night when we wanted to relax over some beverages and watch some footy there would be ordinary karaoke starting up. The old windbag running it ALWAYS started with this song, then the reserves team manager of the time would ALWAYS follow up with Neil Diamond’s I Am I Said, sung ordinarily at best)

11:25: Faith No More - Epic
11:30: The Who - My Generation
11:33: Billy Idol - White Wedding
11:37: Pearl Jam - Daughter

11:44: Queen - Fat Bottomed Girls
11:49: Boom Crash Opera - Onion Skin…interrupted by the traditional last 10 minute look at the year that was.

8:35: Prince – Cream
8:39: Wild Cherry – Play That Funky Music
8:43: Katy Perry – Roar (There’s another word that rhymes with Roar that I could but won’t use to describe her recent stuff, it’s not really a family friendly word)

8:50: Bachman Turner Overdrive – Takin Care of Business
8:55: New Kids on The Block – You Got It (The Right Stuff)

9:00: Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl (2nd most overplayed song this year)

9:06: MC Hammer – U Can’t Touch This
9:10: The Clash – Rock The Casbah
9:13: Pink – Raise Your Glass (well I guess it took a couple of hours before this filth snuck in)

Pre-Recorded Shout outs from a handful of ladies
10:01: Elton John/Kiki Dee – Don’t Go Breaking My Heart
10:05: Robbie Williams – Rock DJ
10:09: Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody (Just once I wish someone would play the version by the Muppets, just to see how the audience would react!)
Shout Outs after Al confirmed that this would have been delayed into Qld audiences, normally the overnight talkback snorefest comes on at 11PM Qld time
10:15: Mel & Kim – Respectable
10:22: Aerosmith/Run DMC – Walk This Way (No Cameo from Moe and Joey still has his drumsticks hidden from Edna Krabbabpel)
Shout out from someone packing their belongings preparing for a move elsewhere

10:30: Rick Springfield – Jessie’s Girl

10:46: Snap! – Rhythm is a Dancer

11:02: Madonna - Vogue
Shout outs now that we’re inside the last hour, one from a caravan park, all sound REAL enthusiastic….

11:41: B52’s - Love Shack (Well it took this long…you get the point)
11:45: Portugal. The Man - Feel It Still (another annoying song the regionals will have to put up with, trying to sound like Amiel when she did Addicted to Bass with that other bloke whose name I can’t remember)
Shout out from Al thanking his listeners, before the 10 minute look at the year that the metro MMM stations got.

HAPPY NEW YEAR QUEENSLAND, and a belated HNY to South Australia whom I’ve neglected to get a log from this year, simply ran out of devices to stream on.

 I was in Rocky a week back and the music on Triple M CQ and 4CC sounded the same. I found it hard to find a decent radio station in Rocky. I am finding the regional Triple M stations are playing a lot of that crap cheap daggy 80’s and 90’s Music lately.
