Radio Stations - Music Logs

I don’t mind Zinc either, and will often listen in for the midday countdown to hear what is on that day. If I don’t like it, there’s always the Gr8ies on River 949 at the same time

I assume you’re referring to the “20-20 Retro Countdown”, which in my part of the world airs on 2ST (via 102.9 from Bowral) at the same time. The same program airs at 7pm weeknights on River 949.

That’s the one.

Enjoyable Way-Back Wednesday on River 949 today

Why can’t we listen to River 94.9 for 1 week in our rotation of radio stations at my workplace?:confused:I miss being able to listen to them

Why not, is it because of reception?

Fairly safe playlist except for a handful of ‘unflogged’ songs. Not what it used to be.

It’s because everyone has to be listening to the same station

I thought by “we” you meant everyone.

Given the recent discussions about 2GO on the relevant threads (particularly the “Central Coast Radio” thread) on the wake of Sarah & Paddy’s axing, I thought it be worth unearthing some of the past 2GO logs that I’ve done from the days of when they had its own music log & dominated in the local radio ratings, both overall & in the 40-54s. I’ve originally posted those on the old MS forums back in the day, which are now inaccessible, so I thought it’s worth sharing again for historical purposes of what the station used to sound like.

Below are some of the logs from 2007 & 2008.
A brief background: In those days, 2GO & Sea FM were owned by Macquarie Regional Radioworks (later Macquarie Southern Cross Media, after it merged with Southern Cross Broadcasting in mid-2007), which as the name suggests, focused on regional markets, with no assets in metro markets, unlike under the current SCA ownership. Therefore, 2GO wasn’t part of the Triple M network. Rival station Star 104.5 had a rock format back then & was rating way behind 2GO.

107.7 2GO
"70s to Now & Everything in Between"
Thursday 26th July 2007 - 10-11am AEST

“Computer Games” Mi-Sex
"Chasing Cars" Snow Patrol
"Don’t Change" INXS
"Somebody’s Crying" Chris Issak
"Dream Police" Cheap Trick
"Keep Holding On" Avril Lavigne
"Invisible Touch" Genesis (part of Phil Collins’ doubleshot)
“In The Air Tonight” Phil Collins (part of Phil Collins’ doubleshot)
“Watching The Detectives” Elvis Costello & The Attractions
"How Far We’ve Come" Matchbox 20

107.7 2GO
"70s to Now & Everything in Between"

"All Star" Smash Mouth
"Six Months In a Leaky Boat" Split Enz
"Straight Lines" Silverchair
"Dreamer" Supertramp
"Town Called Malice" The Jam
"Into The Night" Santana feat. Chad Kroeger
"Somebody To Love" Queen

107.7 2GO
"70s to Now & Everything in Between"
Monday 18th February 2008 - 10-11am AEDT

“Pink Houses” John Cougar Mellencamp
"Hey There Delilah" Plain White T’s
"Reelin’ In The Years" Steely Dan
"All I Wanna Do" Sheryl Crow
"Talking In Your Sleep" The Romantics
"Steer" Missy Higgins
"You Took The Words Right Out of my Mouth" Meatloaf
"Jump" Van Halen
"Pictures of You" The Last Goodnight
"Rocket Man" Elton John
"Need You Tonight" INXS
"Photograph" Nickelback

As you can see, back in those days, 2GO played plenty of 70s & 80s music, and wasn’t as reliant on the ‘90s-now’ compared to today under the network log from the Gold Coast that is present on most Triple M regional stations.

It’s little wonder why regional commercial radio stations are not as interesting now compared to what it was a decade ago. :frowning:

Welcome to the usual logs for New Year’s Eve around the world! This year I’ve gone a little different in that a couple of the East Coast logs are longer than the normal 2 hours leading into midnight. This has required me to listen to streams on my laptop and tablet as well as the local station through my phone at the same time. I’ve also added the odd comment that may or may not be agreeable, plus in the NZ log which is replaying a countdown there’s an explanation as to why a certain song was ranked inside the top 10. So without further ado…

Except for Disturbed, that’s a awesome log. :grinning:

I’m hoping to be up about 5AM tomorrow morning (and given the weather here it’s a possibility, sweating buckets at 9:15PM) so I can do a couple of hours from a South African Rock Station, just for something very different.

 I was in Rocky a week back and the music on Triple M CQ and 4CC sounded the same. I found it hard to find a decent radio station in Rocky. I am finding the regional Triple M stations are playing a lot of that crap cheap daggy 80’s and 90’s Music lately.
