Hey K-Rock, where’s the Rock? Can I report them to the ACCC for false or misleading claims?
for false or misleading claims?
Almost every station would get in trouble in some way.
Gold “Just Great Songs” - nope just the same overplayed stuff
Triple M “Comedy”, comedy is meant to be funny.
Smooth- "We Built This City"isn’t Smooth. It’s more peanut butter “crunchy” than “smooth”.
The Conga Line- Playing stuff that your uni professor thinks is cool.
Reality: Not even your crusty Classics professor would listen to this garbage.
The same could be said about B-Rock. Definitely no longer, “Rock of the West”.

Much prefer that list. Much better. Bay is my go-to station BTW.
WTH is that KRock list! What are they even supposed to be?
K-Rock shouldn’t be K-Rock if they’re not going to play any rock. Mind you, they’re simply taking the ARN Regional Top 40/CHR music log. This log is heard on many regional Top 40 FM stations owned by ARN, including Power FM Ballarat.
K-Rock isn’t owned by ARN but seems to be running the log through some contract or deal made with ARN. Hence also probs why I heard KIIS-sounding sponsor inserts prior to 6pm for Chemist Warehouse in the past, I kid you not.
Hey K-Rock, where’s the Rock?
Shouldn’t they be called K-Hot instead? They could keep the K in their logo but change the name from Rock to Hot.
Why K-Hot? To better reflect their Top 40/CHR format.
From that log I saw, it mainly consists of R&B/Pop/Dance, no Rock whatsoever if any. They’re just simply taking the ARN Regional CHR music log, have we all forgotten that’s what they do on K-Rock nowadays?
Can I report them to the ACCC for false or misleading claims?
Yes you sure can! I’ll be waiting…
Smooth- "We Built This City"isn’t Smooth.
There’s a TV ad campaign for Smooth using this song still doing the rounds. Is We Built This City their station mascot or something? ![]()
The same could be said about B-Rock. Definitely no longer, “Rock of the West”.
Indeed. Awkwardly enough, you might hear a little bit of rock in their promos/station IDs/sweepers then it transitions to a pop song from Tate McRae e.g.
Either rename it to B 99.3, B-Hot 99.3 or B-Pop 99.3. B-Rock doesn’t make sense anymore now that the Rock format as a whole has been dropped.
Shouldn’t they be called K-Hot instead? They could keep the K in their logo but change the name from Rock to Hot.
Maybe they could change their name to simply “K”? Sounds quite enigmatic, but they’d run the risk of being sued by KIIS for stealing a quarter of their name!
The K-rock and Bay FM playlists are much better than C91.3, which is all over the place.
In the flip side, i98 has a great playlist.
From that log I saw, it mainly consists of R&B/Pop/Dance, no Rock whatsoever if any. They’re just simply taking the ARN Regional CHR music log, have we all forgotten that’s what they do on K-Rock nowadays?

Good log!
Is a “language warning” Triple J style all that community radio needs to do with potentially offensive lyrics?
Given you’ve received complaints about the topic of some songs (Puddle Of Mudd I think) before, I was a bit surprised you didn’t run a radio edit version or something else.
Sting/Cheb Mami- Desert Rose
One of his best post-Police songs. Fantastic pick.

Yes, given that it was toward 6 PM I thought I’d let it slide, as it was only the one word.
I played a censored version of ‘Scooby Snacks’ as that was in school time.
Interesting log dxnerd, Dugites were a very underated “Perth” group, haven’t heard of “Gay Guy’s”. “In myu car”, “South Pacific”, “Juno and me”, and “Cut the talk” were there more known tracks, but i would only say that as “only possibly” as even at the time they were hardly played on radio at all. 2UW in Sydney kind of loved them in the early 80s, but even that was very brief. “Cut the talking” was my fave. ![]()
As far as Kevin Page, aside to 2SM, most of that style was never played on Sydney commercial radio, but that straight pop was right up my alley, with the likes of similar talent, but you’re right, it was uncool then, and is still today.
I guess from the start of grunge in the early 90s, that young boy pop and dance was trying to be the competing music style, but after 18 months or so it peated out, and grunge went all the way throughout the 90s and beyond.
As far as current music, Charlie XCX, “Apple” seems to be somewhat of a pop throwback, I thought initially it would have been an Apple Music promotion, but I digress,
