The main single from their only album with ex-Stiltskin vocalist Ray Wilson, “…Calling All Stations…” a grossly underrated album from Genesis and the only album not to feature Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins in some way or form. CAS did deserve better since it was critically slaughtered by Collins and Gabriel fans due to how they thought Wilson didn’t fit the Genesis mould as the album was released in 1997 during the height of alt rock and soon to be the flavour of the month Nu Metal.
It’s not like Cruise 1323 made a thing of playing so many covers between 7 and 8 this morning. It’s just the way things panned out.
They’re currently playing three tracks from Abbey Road back to back - Here comes the sun, Come together and Something.
Sounding superb.

Assume that’s WION? Unfortunately I never get to hear their live programming as I assume it’s in the morning.
WLNG is another station worth checking out; they have more live and local programming than WION (though sans AM Stereo).
hey all, got a few days off and 2OOO is still carrying our stream from midnight to 2am, so I’ll be doing a one off show tonight (within the next few hours), will post playlist here tomorrow.
Good to know! Was wondering what was happening with that.

I never realised that WION was basically just a shack. But then again, it’s a pretty big shack. I remember when I was with Family Radio in Brisbane and their shack was a third of that size.
Didn’t 2WS start in a shack?
A radio shack…
Remember the local electronics brand Tandy? Their computers were made by Radio Shack, the first one my Dad bought was one of those (TRS-80).
I think the Tandy equivalent retail stores in the United States were called Radio Shack too.
Not quite a shack but it was an old weatherboard house with portable buildings attached.
On a side note, TV station RTS5A started out pretty much in what looked like a shed. Gotta start somewhere, I guess.

This is great! Record a message 'Kia ora this is Pilco from Papanui and I’m kicking back to all 80s music all the time on FM 107.3 XS 80s.
Hopefully they will play ‘So in love’ from OMD great track.
Speaking of which… Do kestrels fly at night?
Yes. All kestrels manoeuvre in the dark.
I prefer Gold 80s and Old Skool 80s. Even MMM 80s occasionally plays the extended version of some 80s tracks.
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque!
Great song and a gentle piss take of Elvis Presley. Occasionally heard on The Conga Line.
Yeah. One thing I like about XS80s is sometimes with these rarities I’ll know the artist, but I’m vaguely unfamiliar with the song. For example, shortly after my post was approved this morning they played a Phil Oakey/Giorgio Moroder song that I’m sure never got radio airplay in NZ.
I’m thinking Keiran Aitkinson has used more google than personal music experience in deciding the playlist over the years, but that actually makes for a better mix. Core artists, but deep cuts. Prefab Sprout for example got another run tonight, but different track…
Current XS80s Playlist:

Player 1 - Space Invaders

I’ll freely admit it. Yes, I put my hand up. I requested Space Invaders. Classic EDM.
Mockers were huge in NZ.
On another note:
I heard Remember the Alamo on 2XS and it brought back so many memories. Driving around in the backseat of the Austin Princess with Radio Avon blasting. Does the Conga Line ever play any Dave McArtney?

Not a fan of those teams
(Mind you, not a fan of the Broncos either but couldn’t resist playing that).
