Imagine if the adult alternative songs are placed next to the classic hits/oldies songs, (provided that because they want to fit with the overall sound of that station), what do you think @myfriend ?

Nice countdown!
River 949 used to do a Cold 30 countdown during weeknights back in 2005 for a few years.
Yeah, I think I remember tuning in to that one a few times in the old days of dial up internet, Perthâs Mix 94.9, also done something similar.
These are from my own personal top 40 charts. At the time, I frequently drunk two litre bottles of Leed Lemonade. Because it was my favorite drink at the time, I called it the Leed Lemonade official top 40.
A bit like me with coke.
Itâs a great list. A few minor hits in there Iâd forgotten about. That Cars song is a really rare one. I have heard it before as FM104 played it but only on a few occasions if I recall correctly. Might have even been on one of their Albums Of The Week.
The Cars, heartbeat city, brilliant album, was the first CD i bought, now own a copy of the Steve Hoffman remaster which is absolutely jaw dropping.
Thanks, when I started compiling my weekly top 40s in February 1979, they were plenty of sources one could draw the music trends and information from, knowing when a song was first played.
Living in Sydney, there was 2SM, 2WS, and 2UW, occasionally 2UE, and by 1980, Triple M and 2Day. Countdown and Sounds Unlimited were television staples, and as the 80s progressed, there was Channel 10âs âMusic Videoâ over night, Donnie Sutherlands Night moves. WROK Rock was similcast on 2SM and Channel 10, Channel 9âs âWave Lengthâ on weekday afternoons, and by the end of the 80s, Video Hits and Rage.
I also bought âSmash Hitsâ magazine, and regularly read the music guides inside the Sydney Morning Herald and TV week. So yeah, where the ARIA and Kent Music Charts represented what was selling, my charts represented what I like most out of the newest of the tracks at the time.
During the 80s, they would be at least 10 new entries every week, by the early 90s, this dropped down to seven to eight, by 1994 to 1995, about five a week. When I compiled my last chart in July 2000, they were three new tracks entering my charts each week. By August 2000, the project was ended as music just wasnât fun any more. Dwoof dwoof, grinder, trance, grunch, metel, indie, RNB, rap, and emo were no longer my thing. As far as i considered it, the golden age of pop was finished. From September 2000 to December 2001, I started a casual weekly top five, but this was not in any way done to the same standard as my previous charts.
With the recent change with Hit Regional going back to being a pure CHR station, I thought Iâd take a look at how the commercial radio stations on the Central Coast of NSW are fairing these days.

âPapa Donât Preachâ Madonna
What is it with all the Triple M stations flogging the same artists over and over again. I hear so many complaints about this.
I noticed with the regionals they seem to Flog to death Matchbox 20, Madonna, Billy Joel and Phil Collins.
Far from a pure CHR, they still have the same playlist as the last few years it is just the positioning thatâs changed.
Still treated as a Hot AC internally.
For another retro Sunday afternoon on the fresh mix dot com, weâll be counting down the top 20 singles from this week in April 1997 (Week ending Sunday 13th April 1997), from 15:00 hrs Australia Eastern.

Triple M 107.7 used to be the old âTHe Coasts 2GO FM 108â, very surprising on what they are playing here, as it very closely resembles the old 2GO. I guess in some way they didnât want to alienate the old 2GO crowd by going full out modern rock.
Is this a chart you compiled yourself as some of these were very minor hits on the ARIA chart (if they made it at all)? That Amber song definitely didnât reach #5 and I canât recall it!
I think you said that you compiled your own charts partially based on your personal tastes.
Yes, these are my personal charts, compiled weekly from February 1979 to the first week of August 2000. By the mid to late nineties, there was a lot of rap, hip hop, gangster, grunge, metal, and trance which I disliked. Thatâs not to say I had a âZero Toleranceâ for it, as some of the âlighterâ rap tracks, which is apparently coined as âparty rapâ still made it in, however on the whole, my charts were mainly pop, rock, light dance orientated.
Is it always at this time? I will have to record it.
@anonymousbroadcaster - if you can do your chart show as a high bitrate mp3 file, I could see about getting it aired on Braidwood FM if youâre interested. PM me if so.

No, these things are sort of done on the spir of the moment at present, but generally on the ball path of a Sunday arvo, as this is the time when both my friend and I have a day off.
Today my friend done a two hour special on 1990, which kind of encouraged me to pull out one of my old chartts for a spin. We kind of feed off each other, I guess itâs just some kind of chemistry. When I do something, he wants to hop aboard and do a thing or two as well, and vice versa.
Thanks for the offer, this is much appreciated, will keep it in mind. At present weâre talking to CBAA to get a weekly slot on COMSAT or COMRAD, I canât remember what it was called.
The thing is if I have to committ myself at present, I would like to do this with a few other people, on kind of a rotating shift kind of thing.
At present Iâm talking to my friend down the coast, and one of the other broadcasters at StarterFM, so in effect I would like to get a three hour by three week pattern going.
In effect this would be me one week, friend 1 the next week, and friend 2, the next, then back to me, and so forth. Weâre just talking about it at present, and feeling out the logistics of doing such an arrangement. I donât know if it will work, or be just too much mucking around.
On the other end, we donât know if CBAA could even give us three hours. I can do two, so can friend 2, but friend 1 always seems to be stuffed for time in a two hour slot and would like to do three. I can easily do a three hour shift, but am easy with two as well, Iâm flexible.
Iâll get back to you on this, see how things pann out.
CRN? Thatâd be a great way to get your show out there. Iâm not sure how many of the 500-odd stations have CRN, but a lot of them do (either via satellite or via FTP; the station Iâm involved with broadcasts CRN content sourced via FTP).
Wow, are they that many community radio stations in Australia?, I thought 200, maybe 250 max.
Hereâs todayâs playlists, friend dropped out, so Iâll be doing two specials today, these will kick off from 15:00 hours this afternoon Australian Eastern.
