Radio Data System (RDS)

Thanks Ozbark, I tried with the MPX Output but it doesn’t show up on the SDR# Menu after changing the addons file. Also yes i have got SDR Console installed and that seems to work but not as good. image

Sounds like you’re a long long way from getting it all working.
Have you added an addon to SDR# before?
If not I suggest you look at Youtube videos on how to do this.
Also the MPX Output addon should have instructions in read me.
It’s usually just a simple case of adding the dll file to SDR# directory
and then adding the addon magic line to either the config file or the other plugins config related file, sorry I’m vauge without looking it all up. There’s heaps of references/videos online how to do this. Just need text editor to add the magic line. Make sure SDR# isn’t loaded when doing all this.

BTW I use VB Cable as my virtual cable. Sometimes you need to check playback/recording setting in your Windows Audio Config to see if your Virtual Cable program is showing. If it’s not showing after installing it maybe disabled & thus not showing in list. There’s plenty of youtube videos online with reference to STEREO Mix not showing in your Windows Audio/Realtec software that is may be applicable to VB Cable etc. If that’s setup your virtual cable will definitely show in the MPX addon, which then feeds to RDS Spy.

I’ll try again tomorrow and see if I can get it working. I can get DMR decoding working with VB Cable so the problem i’m having can’t be that bad.

Make sure your sample rate of your Virtual soundcard is set to 192000hz

That’s what Central Coast should have done

107.7MMM or MMM CC

2BCR 100.9 now has RDS, with station name showing up as “* RDS *”.

Nice. Hopefully they do something with their RDS in future.
It seams to me that 2BACR is now producing a stronger signal.
Anyone else notice a difference?
PI Code is: FFFF, same as 2SER & Harmony FM.
No RT or PTY

I noticed that Star is also using the name of the artist in their RT promos. For example, just now Fading Like a Flower by Roxette was on and the RT was something like: “Star 104.5 is the home of Roxette on the Central Coast”.

I think Star FM change their RT format & messages almost as often as I change my undies.

BTW 2NSB 99.3 have changed what they usually output on their RT recently.
It’s now usually just: On Air now: [Program Name]

It’s a very cool use of RT. When they are playing a song from a core artist that message is displayed in rotation with the title and artist.

And the future is now here:
They’ve made the change

They have very cleverly changed the PI code to their callsign: 2BAC
PS: 2BACR
PTY: Culture
RT: 2BACR - 100.9FM
And they have Clock Time too.

Well done guys!

LATE UPDATE: Techs must be working on the RDS, often defaulting back to yesterday’s display.

Only barely receivable here even during tropo, and only in a null of 2PSR, reception is non existent otherwise, so I doubt I’ll ever see the 2BAC RDS here.

Potentially the most clever PI under the current system could be 104.7 Canberra;
PI ‘1047’

I think this should be the standard that all stations use.

It cant be because call signs are alphabetic but PI codes are hexadecimal (0-9 A-F)

Great. Haven’t seen a current PI code list for the Canberra stations.

I noted that Adelaide station (Mix 102.3) with callsign 5ADD also uses their callsign for their PI code, maybe they were the first?

I would like to be able to email this pic to SCA.

Can they tell me which Triple M station I’m listening to?
