I reckon another use could be language warnings on those stations that play sweary music (I’m looking at you triple j).
I think 4ZZZ have language warnings in amongst other text when they’re playing a sweary track, it’d be a good use for RDS elsewhere (in addition to the song and show information they currently are rolling out).
Hopefully not. If the radio is RDS standards compliant, it should only consider AF when select PI codes match. Some large European/UK network stations have a huge number of AF entries.
Thanks for putting up a North GC coastal TEF public server.
After a busy week I’ve finally had the chance to confirm that all 5 ABC FM Services from Mt Dowe Upper Namoi have RDS running (ABC Classic & JJJ were switched on this week)
Some Es to Hobart today – ABC Classic Hobart PS has changed from ‘ABC CFM’ to ‘ABC Clas’ in line with the other stations. PI remains the same, however.
Though with an output of just 2 watts, some residents in Crookwell might have trouble getting RDS well enough. Even though the TX is only 3 kms out of town, reception wasn’t great when I was last up there, just ‘okay’.
The GN & Eagle relays from the Reservoir right on the edge of town and at 100 watts are much better.
I can hear the ABCs all the time from Bungendore Hill at fairly good strength, though agreed they still don’t get out very well. They were even harder to hear 10-15 years ago, so maybe they have slightly increased the power? As you say, the commercial relays are easier to get.
Someone has been editing the Nelson, NZ section of the South Is RDS sheet & completely stuffing up all the rows below their editing in the sheet. Whilst contributions are very welcome, unless you are competent with general basic editing of Google Sheets please don’t edit the sheets, but send notes to this forum & I’ll do the job. In these days of AI & Youtube there really is no excuse for not knowing or learning how to do a lot of basic stuff. Additionally one can create a Google Sheet of their own to PRACTICE their basic Google Sheet editing. And as I’ve indicated there is also the UNDO button to undo a mistake. It’s easy to learn how to execute a insert line/row above or below an existing row. Somehow someone is managing to stuff up the merged cell columns for MARKET & LAST UPDATE such they become out of alignment with other rows. Someone did the same thing recently to the NSW worksheet. All this creates a lot unnecessary & unwanted work. It should be obvious that a mistake has been made when it is made.
Either please be careful & check what you are doing, if you are not competent with editing please don’t edit the sheets. Thank you.
How to add a new row for a new entry, eg 97.1 2ABCRN Young, NSW: (not reported with RDS)
On far left of screen there are row numbers. There is an entry for 96.3 2RVR. We want to add a new row entry for 97.1 2ABCRN below the row for 96.3 2RVR.
We therefore click on the row number box 327. This highlights the entire row.
We right click our mouse & select: Insert 1 row below
Our new row has been added & cells are ready to be populated with new data.
Pretty simple stuff. One can either appropriately choose to ‘Insert 1 Row Above’ or ‘Insert 1 row below’
