New message on Sonshine 98.5 Perth…
I guess this confirms 97.3 Sonshine Katanning is not only on air, but potentially has RDS (so they can see this message). I shall investigate further.

Also I don’t know if weather related, Wave and i98 RDS is much harder to decode this afternoon. I98 taking quite a while to decode, normally does straight away, but only partial at best, no Radio Text.
Wave fm no RDS at all.
Signal levels from Wollongong are good as tv signal strength is normal.

Yes I suspect weather related as i98 is particularly weaker than usual here too.

Looks like they have given up with the usual JJJ PI code re switching issues associated with the different JJJ news between Syd/Wollongong & are trailing with the new PI code (see pic).
Should be okay with that PI code I think. That said I have no idea what PI code GN FM Goulburn is using.

Triple J Illawara weak atm, high BER RDS decoding.
LATE NOTE: Noticed that 88.7MHz Goulburn is listed as a AF. Wonder if they have RDS on now & if the same PI code?

Triple J’s 2023 PI code should be a good choice for the region referencing the RDS list.
Also looking at GN FM’s PI code of 2061, this looks to be unique too.
The last 2 digits of 61 look to be unique in NSW too, so shouldn’t be any unforeseen RDS switching problems in the surrounding listening areas.
Late Edit: I reckon GNFM modelled their PI code on their Crookwell 106.1 frequency
to avoid the obvious PI clash of 2077 with Triple M Central Coast.
Given that the last Wollongong Triple J RDS test ended in March this year & Goulburn 88.7 continued through to May this year, probably a fair assumption Triple J Goulburn’s RDS ‘might’ become permanent now with presumed PI of 2023? 
We’ll see.

Had to go to Goulburn today and noted the following:
87.6 Faith FM with RDS
88.7 2JJJ now with the standard lowercase ‘triplej’ RDS (it was caps before)
Didn’t take the TEF tuner so don’t have the PI codes. I can recommend the Thai restaurant on the northern side of town

I’ve been looking at my signals from 96.5, 98.1 & 98.9 Knights Hill (Illawara) last couple of days. Wave FM spectrum looks as it has for years, always difficult to decode more than the RDS PI code. I’m now getting multipath distortion on I98 for some reason, making RDS decoding difficult, wasn’t the case earlier in the year, then if I look at 98.9 Illawara the waveform looks to have less multipath & also looks a little stronger than earlier in the year, such that RDS decoding is now much easier than was the case during their earlier RDS test transmission.
I’m suspecting localized building cranes & new multi-storey apartment blocks going up everywhere in recent times causing a lot of multipath & changing reception anomalies to my FM reception at homebase.
Always great to have good food recommendations, especially Asian food in the regional areas. We’re spoilt for huge range of good cheap Asian food in Sydney, rarer to find in the regions or even places like Hobart or Newcastle. Easier finding a Sushi Roll than a Sandwich here - Lol.

That’s one thing I do miss about urban living, along with a choice of programming on community radio! Melbourne does both food and community radio a hair better than Sydney though, imo

Definitely was weather related yesterday. Wave Fm and i98 now decoding full RDS again on my dx setup. Wave still takes longer to decode than i98 which is instant.
RE 2ST still very weak to no existent on my dx setup. Received ok on the car stereo. I wonder if the new transmitter is installed and back to full power?

Past few weeks I’ve spent a bit of spare time developing the Australian RDS List (Google Sheets) further for the benefit of Broadcast Engineers & Technicians with their selection of a suitable PI code & avoiding incorrect tuner/receiver switching between RDS stations. Radio dxers will also find Table 3 useful.
There was a problem with a bug in one of the earlier tables & that has now been resolved & the concept has been expanded to produce a new Worksheet that outputs specific station details for a selected PI code where that PI code is in use. Also another table for where ‘last two digits of PI code are in use’ & displays all those stations. There’s a lot of magic behind the new worksheet ‘14-Engineering’ to draw the data from Worksheet 11 & avoid the extra manual admin work that would have otherwise resulted.
There’s also changes to the 1st ‘[Updates]Worksheet’ & on the following ‘Example’ worksheet to assist contributors.
