Both Mt Mowbullan and Passchendaele Ridge are within range for Brisbane DAB+, as is Mt Nardi. They’re all on the threshold at the tower base with a handheld Sony digital radio. Never been to Goonaneman to try, a high gain antenna for 9C may receive there too, but it’s in the null from TVQ as a legacy of pre restack planning.
Time differences in summer would make Brisbane DAB unsuitable for Mt Nardi though.
Agree. I think it was around midnight and I could barely keep my eyes open typing.
Here’s how it looks on my car radio, received from ~40km away. I question the necessity of the “FM”.
105.7 triple j - Sydney.
Perhaps some maintenance happening with the RDS atm?
No RT being sent out. Just Group Code 0A data being output.
98.9 4AAA Brisbane.
Station has changed its horrible PS from dynamic to static. Happy Days!
PS now displaying as: 98.9fm
Also in another positive improvement for listeners & dxers, the station has increased
its RDS subcarrier level from -60 to around -47dB.
A huge improvement for decodes.
Triple A still need to fix their RDS for correct UTC offset for their transmitted time in Group 4A.
The PI code is still an issue I suspect, some receivers won’t decode it due to that code
Interesting, I didn’t know that, but not surprised given that FFFF appears to be a frequent default PI code in RDS encoders. Yes it should be changed too.
Yes, FFFF is the default PI for all RDS encoders, it’s noted in the RDS standards & specifically mentions it should be changed & never used.
By this afternoon triple j Sydney had restored full RDS functionality and finally
corrected its Clock Time. RDS Spy does however show an incorrect UTC time though.
SDR Console does provide correct UTC time from the RDS feed.
Anyone know if local time is shown correctly when listening to triple j Sydney on 105.7 FM on their tuner or radio rx?
RDS noted missing from 97.7 2SBSFM Sydney tonight.
UPDATE: Oct 5 - RDS returned. Still frozen RT (Radio Text) & CT (Clock Time) is still incorrect.
You would think with the AEST to AEDST change that this broadcaster would at least
take the opportunity to correct their CT…
Finally some further RDS info pertaining to Vintage FM, Campbelltown on 88.7 after a much needed mini excursion - thank you Mr Premier.
PI code is a simple; 1234 & PTY is: Oldies Music
Oh & previously mentioned here PS is dynamic with:
VINTAGE
FM
And a couple of RT messages.
Another LPON with same PI code of 1234 & also the same RT formatting issue re sending out that special character: ÿ (ASCII code 255, HEX code FF) instead of SPACE characters at the end of the RT string; ASCII code 32, HEX code 20 - which would fix the problem…
87.6 River FM in Sydney also has the RT ÿ problem.
So @TV.Cynic what frequency is this VISION outlet from & where?
87.8 I assume it is Manly, Road Manly. Broadcast has a stereo pilot as well.

There’s some Newcastle RDS updates in the link above by @RFBurns
Also updated some RDS info on the Aus RDS list for the Beaudesert area yesterday.
Awesome
BTW Does Vision have any AF on any of their RDS FM transmitters?
No AF showing up.
The Vision outlet coming from Mt Coot-tha has this as well, as does the one in Coorparoo I believe
The nearest 87.6 Vision outlet is mono and doesn’t have RDS.
