SCA Sydney RDS is all done internally, the Traffic data is sent from the external traffic info. managers, to the SCA studios & integrated there.
It appears i98 have turned off their RDS. I get a near perfect signal for i98 and have not received their RDS since late last week.
Wave fm is still received with RDS which requires a much stronger signal then i98 for their RDS to decode. Has anyone else noticed this?
Iâd say theyâd be having similar issues to Star 104.5.
They were recently without RDS for the best part of 2 weeks, but itâs working again nicely now.
Itâs pretty much essential for any commercial FM radio station to have RDS now (unless youâre Bill Caralis of course).
With the majority of commercial radio stations and more community stations now having RDS in Australia. I am still finding it difficult to find RDS in AV receivers and 2 Channel stereo / receivers / tuners.
Yamaha does not include RDS in their top of the line AV amps (UK / European models only) I have only seen it in the Onkyo Tx8270 amp/ network receiver. Lucky my Digitech Fm /dab+ tuner has RDS.
With RDS now so commonly used you would think it would be included in all fm tuners sold in Australia?
Probably not as useful on HiFi receivers since they have such small display screens.
Mine has a three line display the RDS just replaces the frequency.
RDS is stock standard in all Hifi receivers in the UK / Europe yet it gets left out in the models sold in Australia. Does not make sense with everyone now broadcasting an RDS signal.
Denon & Marantz (Sound United brands) claim to but I am not in possession of any of their kit to test.
I used to have a Denon AVR-2312 (2012 model) which had RDS and worked well.
And more recently an Onkyo TX-SR393 that had RDS and that worked well too.
With SWR FM changing their ID to SWR 99 point 9 (previously SWR Triple 9), is the RDS still SWR 999 (I assume so as Iâm sure someone would have posted it here if not!).
As I briefly had SWR reception almost good enough to get RDS this evening, and heard the 99 point 9 ID.
Having good reception of the station in my location, I can confirm that âSWR 99.9â is the current RDS name.
Well, it would be bad if their RDS wasnât Inphase with their branding.

103.3 FM Goulburn: RAM FM is the latest of the community FM RDS broadcasters
to contract the âDynamic PSâ disease. Fortunately itâs not the more seriously annoying variant of scrolling PS, but stillâŚRAM is now displaying their Dynamic PS across 4 lines as:
RAM FM
the
Voice of
Goulburn -
Australian Muslim Voice 99.5 have a static PS of: AMV-ACT
Their RT is: Australian Muslim Voice - Radio Ramadan Canberra -
104.7 & 106.3 Canberra seam to now have a fixed RT. Displays are:
âHit104.7 Hits and Old Schoolâ & âMusic That Feels Goodâ
respectively.
A couple of new RDS stations for me thanks to yesterdayâs opening to Wide Bay. Childers 102.5 and 106.9
Good one!
PI code of 4994 looks like it should be for Rebel 99.4 Gold Coast Hinterland, though text of REBEL106 isnât.
3mFM RDS changed today to:

Added to the RDS Google Sheet along with other changes to 3SEA, 3TFM & 3GV.
Your 89.1 has some coverage in Melbourne, particularly the SE. You could cheekily market it as suchâŚI think Sea FM Warragul used to do that for a time.
And kept it going after taking on the Star FM branding too
Thanks @NDY. Surprised Ace Radio still arenât doing AF for TRFM 99.5 Latrobe Valley and 99.9 Bairnsdale.
It is actually! Along with the rest of the known (to us in the group) Rebel FM transmitters with RDS. Similar with the Breeze with PI code modelled on the Gold Coastâs Breezeâs 100.6 with PI code of 4006.
Question for @TV.Cynic with the new Childers Rebel/Breeze outlets, was there any AF data from RDS Spy?
BTW 3MBS 103.5 has implemented dynamic PS with line display.
Why do the community FM stations do this? Itâs ugly.
This is how 3MBS have implemented their PS display:
3MBS
Fine

Mel

Some odd things happening with the group codes for 101.1 & 104.3 in Melbourne too.
Both stations were alternating during different periods with having not having TMC data many days ago. When I last looked neither had TMC data, just basic group 0A, 2A & 4A data. Could be related to transmitter site changes or similar to what is happening in Sydney with ARN looking at changes to management or implementation of their Traffic Data? Dunno.
BTW Joy 94.9 are updating their RT way too fast, like itâs in nightclub / party mode.
Following on from welcome updates by @NDY Iâve made several RDS changes/updates to Melbourne & Geelong areas in the Australian RDS Google Sheet.
