4KQ has changed the message on its news theme - its even more focused on iheart radio.
bringing OC to Australia is the sort of ballsy call you donât see in radio much anymore. Iâd been a fan of COC for years - when i worked night shift i found his show and listened to it via streaming as the times worked (ie - i had a breakfast show, when I had brrakfast) and even called in from melbourne to london to request a song on his all request hour he used to have after the breakfast show was done. he;s a great personality but it could have easily ended in tears.
it seems the poms are more accepting of aussies on the radio than vice-versa
Yes itâs unbelievable they donât promote DAB+ at all. Whatâs wrong with them?
Just what I was going to reply to @TV.Cynicâs comment.
This is a station benefitting from a lack of 4BH and a lack of local 4BC and a local ABC that has chosen the wrong content and could have higher share if they did their own free marketing on the station for digital radio.
Clearly Duncan and Barry donât have their eye on every aspect as they should.
They want you listening via iHeartRadio so they can directly target you with addressable advertising. ARN have been doing this for a while now, and seem to have gotten it down pat. Itâs a lot smoother than it was initially. SCA and Nova seem to be slowly rolling this out too.
They all seem to use something called AdsWizz, you may see their name appear in the now playing screen if you access their stream directly rather than through their apps.
Personally I think itâs a waste of time, it hasnât really been proven that targeted advertising works any better than standard advertising, despite what Google, Facebook and all the ad brokers want you to think.
Yeah I agree itâs a waste of time. Most radio listening is in the car anyway. Particularly for 4KQ I hardly think their audience is the most likely to be downloading iheart on their phones.
Sizzling Summer weekend on 4KQ coming up
4KQ Christmas Lights TV Commercial
More heads rolling at ARN
Barry will be safe in Brisbane as always I guess? Heâs true survivor, could give the cockroaches in a nuclear holocaust a lesson.
Barry the monkey aka Music Director?
Barry Drinkwater.
Earlier, drive announcer on KQ, PD of 973 since it began.
Rumours around radio land that Mike Byrne will be the new content director for WSFM
4KQ are doing their annual âSantaâs Sack of 70sâ, which started this morning & will go right through until New Yearâs Eve.
His children should be old enough now to be out of school for that to no longer be holding him back.
A further saving for SCA, unlikely to replace him.
Does the station sound automated to you?
And following is the traditional 25 years in 25 days.
Some very rare track playing during the Santa Sack of 70s - some tracks of albums that would have been lucky to be played at the time as part of a top 40 only format.
Yes amazing, just tuned in. What a great station. Its like community radio with rare tracks. It would be great if 2ch took note, or MSR or even wsfm.
Yes the weekend playlists and specials are amazing variety. Wouldnât be another classic hits station as broad in this country.
ARN need to roll out classic hits to other cities on DAB at least. They could even brand them 2WS in Sydney and 3KZ in Melbourne.
And call it âPure Gold Classic Hitsâ.
You can have that one for free ARN.
What but rate is 4kq in brissy? I agree with the dab ideas but it needs to be a decent sound.
