Public Transport

i have only needed to catch trams around Melbourne, thankfully, I have never had to catch the trains though. I had to catch the trains around Sydney to Gransville when I was in sydney a few years ago, I hated it. Not sure if has changed since then.

CDC Victoria introduced the first of 50 new Volvo Hybrid buses last week, now operating on routes 417 (Laverton - Laverton North) and 606 (Fishermans Bend/Port Melbourne - Elsternwick). I rode it yesterday and it seemed to go well, the engine cuts out while the bus is idle at a bus stop or traffic lights etc which is a good idea

Yes- the breadth (and depth) of PT in Melbourne is the standout. E.g. from Mount Waverley, you have the choice of the tram and a heavy rail line. The one glaring omission is Tullamarine, which puts me off flying to Melbourne as most of my business is in the eastern suburbs (and I prefer staying in the Yarra Valley).

Of course, delays and overcrowding- the two principal bugbears of the commuter- occur in both cities.

An airport for the South East would make a lot of sense - given just how far away Tullamarine is even if there was a train connection there.

There’s a proposal floated for an airport near Koo Wee Rup - which could potentially have a few different means of connecting to public transport. The most obvious would be to expand upon the already proposed extension of the Cranbourne line down to Clyde, and just keep extending it along the existing rail corridor down to an airport site, while you could also make connections via Pakenham.

The Long term Plan is to extend to Koo-Wee- Rup as a Metro Network? When Who knows.

The Airport idea has been on the card for now over 20 years. Never taken off the ground(pardon the pun)

This might be a silly one but has anyone catch the Perth Stadium buses when you don’t intended to go to the event like the WCE Vs Dockers. I went to Karrinyup on 13/4/2019 only to catch the 650 which was packed with mostly WCE fans (Some Dockers fans also showed up too) before heading home by train.

Although i trimmed the video, the Stand Supervisor (Who ensures every bus showed up) asked me to tag-off so i don’t charge more but from what I’ve read on the Transperth website is that you would pay a normal fare if you intend to get your ticket at the venue.

For those interested, Queensland Rail have started scrapping the EMU sets with EMU16 cut up today.

does anybody know the number to ring to get live updates on certain bus or train lines from public transport victoria??? as atm there not showing live updates

The number for PTV is 1800 800 007.

I remember from when I was in Perth in 2012 that all Transperth buses have a screen around the driver’s seat ,so they are protected from unruly passengers,Too many Brisbane Transport drivers have been assaulted recently ,thats what is needed on all Brisbane buses ,they are fitted with security cameras now but a screen would be better
