Season 2 of Making the Cut premieres on Friday, July 16.
Amazon Prime will stream The English in Australia.
The slate includes a feature-length documentary about the 2019/2020 Summer bushfires, a comedy series written by Kate McCartney & Kate McLennan and a docuseries following Ian Thorpe, Bronte Campbell, Kyle Chalmers & Cody Simpson in the lead-up to the Tokyo Olympics.
Release dates for previously announced shows were also announced (eg; Back to the Rafters will be released on September 17).
Thatâs a lot of new content, wow.
Great to see Amazon investing in Australian content. Something that Netflix is sort of lacking at, and Stan can only do so much of.
The full team of Australian swimming (trials) commentators include sports broadcaster and journalist Matt White who will serve as host across the six days of live swimming events. Matt will be joined by three-time Olympian Nicole Livingstone OAM, dual Olympian and gold medallist Grant Hackett OAM, and two time Paralympic gold medallist, Annabelle Williams OAM â all serving as experts. Veteran sports commentator Jon Harker will be reporting from the booth, and dual Olympian and gold medallist Giaan Rooney OAM will be poolside.
This is quite a decent commentary team, very similar to Sevenâs coverage in the past.
This bloke is hopeless. Just awful as a play by play caller. The rest of the team is good.
If the deal does eventuate, SBS may lose the rights to future seasons of The Handmaidâs Tale.
I thought Foxtel was trying to get the MGM deal.
Isnât looking good for Stan? Now Amazon is stepping it up and they could lose MGM content?
Wasnât Stanâs plan when they lose Showtime to Paramount+ that they were going to release more Aussie content original content.
Huh?
If Amazon acquires MGM, it wonât change any rights or existing deals that they have until they expire.
Foxtel trying to acquire local rights.
Amazon trying to buy out the whole MGM business.
Two different ponds.
Ah ok thanks got that one mixed up lol . I was referring to Report: Foxtel, Stan chasing new MGM deal. | TV Tonight
Surprised Apple with their money hasnât bought MGM
Itâs a worry for Stan, Amazon can spend what they like on content, look at that Lord of The Rings show (not an Aussie original) but money seems no barrier !
Stan has released 26 original type shows/movie since it launched in 2015. However over a longer period of time
While Stan is ahead of Amazon, i feel like Amazon is going to draw people away from Stan with a) cheaper subscription price and b) local content with bigger budgets than Stan can afford.
Hopefully the two can equally produce content locally. Has to be a good thing for the economy.
As for Netflix⌠Chris Lilley, Tidelands lol and now some Instagrammer type show. They donât seem interested in releasing many Aussie originals.
Anyone else getting âThe Pathâ sort of vibe from seeing 9 Perfect Strangerâs teaser trailer?
Borat Supplemental Reportings, a multi-part special featuring never-before seen footage from the Academy Award nominated movie Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, premieres on Amazon Prime next Tuesday, May 25.
Makes sense.
Would we see a âAmazon Originalâ thing at the start of Bond?
