Amazon Prime cricket Cafe Promotions hahaha
But it says “ The former Australian captain will become an expert for Prime Video, providing insight and analysis of the tournament.”
Yes. They said that about Uzzie. They aren’t going to be doing any coverage themselves.
Would probably be limited to social media/media releases offered up with quotes from Lanning after games or media appearances on TV/radio to spruik the coverage and offer analysis.
Exactly, they aren’t doing their own coverage.
The commentary line-up for the Women’s T20 World Cup was announced yesterday, ahead of the tournament proper starting this evening Australian time.
In addition to the live match coverage, ICC TV will produce a 30-minute pre-game build-up, an innings interval show, and a post-match wrap-up allowing a seamless broadcasting experience.
Yesterday, Cricket Australia announced a 15-player squad to play in the U19 Women’s World Cup in Malaysia next month, including 15-year-old sensation Caoimhe Bray. Australia is in Group D alongside Bangladesh, Scotland and Nepal. All of Australia’s group games will be played at UKM YSD Oval on the southern outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, with the Super Six stage and finals to follow. Every match will be shown live on Prime Video.
All matches meaning all matches not just Aussie. Good.
Prime has the rights too all. This isn’t new
The fixture for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy has been confirmed after host nation Pakistan chose Dubai as the neutral venue, following India’s refusal to travel to its neighbours for the tournament. All matches involving India (including a semi-final and final, should it qualify) will be held in Dubai.
Pakistan, the defending champions, will kick off the tournament on February 19, against New Zealand in Karachi. Australia’s first group match is against England in Lahore on February 22.
Very disappointing that the World Test Championship final will not be broadcast on a FTA network in Australia, and is instead exclusively on a streaming service.
Surely 7 can come to a deal with Amazon to have FTA coverage, it would be similar to Fox on selling the previous icc rights to 9 but this would be a 1 off match.
They already have some sort of relationship with Amazon cricket as 7 shows ‘The Test’ as a feature length don’t they? I think it’s with CA as well but maybe CA can help negotiate the deal ![]()
Seven last had the rights but it was a one off. It’s fine on Prime video. They just stream the world feed. Amazon have enough subscribers and it’s good for them to have it live and exclusive. We don’t need simulcast deals.
Is there anywhere in the world where the finsl is being broadscast for free?
Australia is both lucky and unique in its anti-syphoning rules.
Sadly there seems to be an attitude in this country that sport on free TV is a right not a privelege.
If it reaches more viewers then I think a FTA deal for the match would be beneficial to the viewers & CA. WTC on Amazon would not be getting that big viewership (compared to even Fox exclusive). People probably wouldn’t even know they have it
2023 was shown in India for free.
India’s public broadcaster Doordarshan will also carry live coverage of each day’s play via their DD Sports channel.
CA has no input into the ICC deal - in fact, they raised fairly significant concerns to the ICC when they signed Prime Video.
Prime bought the rights fair and square. It’s a one-off in the middle of football season. No anti-siphoning implications. Why would they give it up.
It also can be free to air for those not subscribed previously via the 7 day free trial.
Nope not interested. Not interested in Fox or seven for that matter. They have destroyed these sports with the way they broadcast them.
