Rebecca Judd had been on Postcards since 2011 but has apparently stepped away from the media this year.
Shane Crawford has replaced her as host this year.

What an odd tweet.

According to Sunday Herald Sun, singer and stage star Tim Campbell has joined Postcards as a presenter. He replaces Shane Crawford who left Nine at the end of last year.

The new season starts next Sunday, February 6.

Lauren Phillips said on Nova 100 this morning that she and co-host Jase Hawkins would film several segments for Postcards today. They would do axe throwing, play pickle ball and visit Brewmanity brewery in South Melbourne.

This week Lauren Phillips shares the presenting role with Postcards’ other special guest, her Nova 100 breakfast radio counterpart, Jason Hawkins, for a day out exploring their work-hood in South Melbourne (Boonwurrung & Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). Jase & Lauren sit down for coffee and brunch at Dead Man Espresso before heading down the street to let off some steam at Lumber Punks Axe Throwing. They finish off their day with a beer at South Melbourne’s newest rooftop bar, Brewmanity, and a chat with Co-founder and former Melbourne Football Club captain, David Neitz.

Join the Postcards team this week for an encore visit to some of their favourite locations so far in 2024, at 5.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Madeline Spark explores Pakington Street in Geelong West (Wathaurong Country). First up, she stops by Poco Cafe Express to meet the owners and enjoy a serving of their famous croissant pudding. Then she checks out The Garage Geelong, a popular vintage market, before settling in for a ripper pub feed across the road at the recently refurbished Petrel Hotel.

Guest presenter Michael Teng trades Travel Guides for Postcards to explore Patterson Lakes (Boonwurrung Country). After a feed at Tomboys Canteen in Chelsea Heights he’s off to Melbourne Cable Park for an adrenaline fix, hitting the waves wakeboarding. After all that action, and a game of mini golf, he ends his day at The Cove Hotel with a porterhouse steak and fries.

Meanwhile, we find Todd Woodbridge in Sunbury (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country), learning about the town’s history and catching up with the locals. His first stop is the 8 Oaks cafe, where he digs into tasty corn fritters over a chat with owner Sam D’Angelo, before checking out the 150-year-old Ball Court Hotel which has just reopened after a massive renovation.

And Shane Delia is uncovering the fun-focused locals in Fitzroy North putting their own spin on the suburb’s food scene (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). Like Alex Courtney-Hatcher from Hatcher Baker, who makes bread and sweets at home in his microbakery and does deliveries for customers on his bicycle. Shane also ducks into the popular acai bar, Lovabowl, before enjoying an Italian feast at Pinotta.

Join the Postcards team this week as they continue to discover the best of Melbourne’s suburbs and bayside, Sunday at 5.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Shane Delia heads west to Melton (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) and stops into Melton Men’s Shed, where he meets some local members and learns more about the men’s shed and the community they have built. Back in the heart of town, he finds Latin Foods and Wines and enjoys some tasty traditional Latin American dishes, while meeting the owners, husband and wife duo Marco and Maria De La Plaza.

We find Livinia Nixon exploring the best of the ’burbs in Pascoe Vale South (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). She gets her caffeine fix and a delicious breakfast at Emil’s Cafe, over a chat with the owners John and George El-Khoury. Then she’s off to Sunroom Studios for a pottery-making class, before ordering some authentic Italian gelato at Miinot Gelato crafted by owner Emma Nicholas-Jennings using fresh and natural ingredients.

Meanwhile, Brodie Harper visits the bayside suburb of Mount Eliza (Boonwurrung Country). The quirky and cosy local favourite Velos Mazeh Musette Cafe catches her eye, and after a word with owner Sam Cox she zips doors down to Butterken Bakery a few doors away. It’s owned by German baker Hendrik Roessman and his Aussie partner Anita Seferian, who are passionate about bringing German bread culture to Melbourne. A short walk across the street is the internationally renowned gallery, Baluk Arts, the only Aboriginal arts centre in Victoria’s south-east.

And Madeline Spark is exploring more of Melbourne’s laneways (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). She wanders down Niagara Lane to the Japanese-inspired Tori’s bakery to check out their decadent mix of artisan cakes and desserts. Further along the lane she pops into Wilkins & Kent, a popular furniture design and gift store. Madeline then wraps up in Warburton Lane at Myrtle Wine Bar, a cosy space that celebrates native produce and Australian wines.

Join the Postcards team this week as sisters Eliza and Liberty Paschke from The Block join the show, Sunday at 5.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Lauren Phillips meets up with the two former Blockheads who are currently taking part in Channel 9’s new series, Do You Want To Live Forever? In Cremorne, they check out the sisters’ local favourites (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). One of their go-to eateries is La Manna & Sons where they often enjoy a mouthwatering panini and healthy smoothie. The girls then stop by Recovery Lab in Richmond, a wellness studio designed to maximise your physical and mental recovery, and finish off with a dish from the popular salad bar Green On.

Madeline Spark embarks on a bakery tour across the city (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). Her first stop is in the Queen Victoria Market precinct, Publique Bakery, where she catches up with owner Sung Kim. From there it’s on into Carlton and Tokyo Lamington, a bakery that specialises in some playful flavours of the Aussie classic. Her last stop is Scandinavian inspired Iris The Bakery in Brunswick for a chat with owner Tom Edwards.

This week Kris Smith is in Spotswood (Boonwurrung Country). Following on from Madeline’s bakery crawl, he joins the locals at Candied Bakery on Hall Street and sits down with owner, Orlando Artavilla. The main shopping village beckons on Hudsons Road, so Kris grabs a delicious traditional Balkan sandwich from Stan’s Grill and washes it down with wine and craft beer from Hudsons Road Wine and Beer.

And Brodie Harper travels to Torquay for a relaxing coastal stay (Wathaurong Country). Her day starts with a pep-me-up coffee and toastie from local favourite Mavis Mavis. She then checks into the RACV Torquay Resort located at the start of the Great Ocean Road, before enjoying a meal at their Number One restaurant and a chat with executive chef Michael Bannerman.

Join the Postcards team this week for another serving of their favourite locations near and far, Sunday at 5.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Music presenter, author and podcaster Bridget Hustwaite gives us a tour of Gertrude Street in Fitzroy (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). Starting with breakfast and coffee from Archie’s All Day, there’s also shopping at Cottage Industry and lunch is an Italian feast at Rocco’s Bologna Discoteca.

We find Todd Woodbridge wining and dining at some top spots on the Mornington Peninsula (Boonwurrung Country). At Charlie’s Auto Museum in Arthurs Seat is a collection of over 80 motor vehicles and tonnes of vintage memorabilia. In Red Hill, he visits Many Little Bar & Dining, a modern Sri Lankan-inspired restaurant. The day ends with a wine tasting at the boutique family-run vineyard Eldridge Estate.

Brodie Harper is in Ballarat and Creswick (Wathaurong and Dja Dja Wurrung Country). After checking out the toastie menu at local favourite Cobbs Coffee and visiting the gift shop and art gallery, the Ballarat Imaginarium, it’s a short trip to the RACV Goldfields Resort in Creswick. The grand tour of the resort features the golf course, gallery and on-site dining venues, plus there’s a special offer for Postcards viewers.

And Madeline Spark is on her bike, cycling the Diamond Creek Trail from Eltham to Hurstbridge (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). After visiting one of Melbourne’s oldest commercial orchards, Petty’s Orchard in Templestowe, for some of the moreish baked goodies at their cafe, Maddie rides to the Diamond Creek Bike Shop to meet the owner, Malcolm Standish, and on to Langan’s in Hurstbridge, where she earns a refuel.

Plus, she checks out Gunnamatta Ocean Beach, one of the most popular surf spots in the area.

Join the Postcards team this week as they head to the Grampians and Olympic swimmer Mack Horton joins the show as a guest presenter in the lead-up to Channel Nine’s Olympic and Paralympic coverage, at 5.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Kris Smith is exploring Ballarat (Wathaurong Country). He starts at the Art Gallery of Ballarat before lunch at The Shared Table in Buninyong to taste their entry in Ballarat’s Best Pie Competition. He also checks out the tiny house accommodation at Morromong Estate.

Shane Dellia takes a trip to the East Grampians where top wineries and fine food are on offer (Djabwurung Country). After sampling an excellent drop at the Mount Langi Ghiran winery he checks out the underground cellars at the historic Seppelt Great Western vineyard. Shane’s last stop is Mount William Station, where he meets owner Will Abbot and receives his first-class farm hospitality.

Meanwhile, Madeline Spark explores the lesser known towns of the Grampians region, including Murtoa and Dimboola (Jardwadjali and Wergaia Country). In Murtoa she admires the local silo art before taking in The Stick Shed, a breathtaking remnant of Murtoa’s grain farming history. Then it’s off to Dimboola to visit the Dimboola Imaginarium, a whimsical gift shop that also offers boutique accommodation. Afterwards, it’s time for a hearty pub meal at the Victoria Hotel Dimboola.

And this week we find Olympic swimmer and guest presenter Mack Horton in Albert Park (Boonwurrung Country), poolside at his old stomping ground, the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. Join the Postcards team this week as they head to “Block Island” – the new name for Phillip Island – to check out Shaynna Blaze’s favourite spots, at 5.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Guest presenter and longtime judge on The Block, Shaynna Blaze, shares her favourite spots on Phillip Island (Boonwurrung Country) while filming the show’s new season. First up is The Store, a cosy cafe and larder in Ventnor, just five minutes out of Cowes. Next, she heads to San Remo jetty to chat with Wildlife Coast Cruises’ Georgia Bisset about the best way to experience the island’s incredible marine life on their boat tours. Her day ends at wine bar Shearwaters & Bandicoots featuring a BYO meal from Nat’s Rustic Beach Feed.

Meanwhile, Lauren Phillips explores Malvern East (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Boonwurrung Country) after dark. Her first stop is local favourite cafe Mae, then, just five minutes away, she visits Rutherford’s Corner, with its cosy main bar and plus velvet lounge upstairs, offering a chic twist on the local pub. Her night continues at Parkside Local, a new neighbourhood wine bar known for its delicious pizza and lively Tuesday Trivia night.

Madeline Spark takes in the rugged beauty of the Grampians, visiting hotspots in Halls Gap and Pomonal (Djabwurung Country). She checks into Grampians Under the Stars, a four-bedroom oasis with a heated jacuzzi - ideal for big groups. At Five Ducks Farm in Pomonal, she meets owners Anita Evans and Andy Cross, who have been cultivating fresh produce in the region for over eight years and sell their delicious goods at their farm gate. Her day ends with a rustic pub meal at Barney’s Bistro in the heart of Pomonal.

And this week Shane Delia dives into the rich diversity of Melbourne’s Indian food scene. His culinary journey begins at the beloved CBD spot on King Street, Delhi Rocks, an award-winning family restaurant known for its authentic flavours. In the backstreets of Fitzroy, he discovers Toddy Shop, where a short and simple menu delivers home-style South Indian and Kerala cuisine. He finishes his tour on Carlton’s Lygon Street at Bibi Ji, a vibrant new diner specialising in Indian street food.

Guest presenter Alice Zaslavsky shows us her favourite farm gates on the Mornington Peninsula (Boonwurrung Country). Starting at Torello Farm, she meets owner and good friend Sophie O’Neil to talk about all things Peninsula-grown, grazed and gathered. From there she heads up the road to the Nordie Cafe in Red Hill. Her last stop takes her a little further along the Peninsula to Hawkes Farm in Boneo, which sits just behind Rosebud. She enjoys their famous hot potato chips with the owner, Richard Hawkes.

Livinia Nixon explores the mystery and magic at the NGV’s latest exhibition, Pharaoh (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). After immersing herself in 3,000 years of Egyptian art and culture, she heads to Cairo Nights, a restaurant and bar in Carlton, to sample some authentic Egyptian cuisine.

Shane Dellia uncovers a taste of Europe hidden in the backstreets of Tullamarine (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). Starting at Pasta Al Dente with the owner, Michael Chiodo, he goes through all the delicious Italian pasta the Chiodo family has been making since 2002. Shane settles for a mouthwatering panino from the deli before crossing the road to Alba Cheese to catch up with cousins David and John Bongiorno, who run this family business. After enjoying fresh hot ricotta, he goes next door for an Italian sweet treat at Eiffel Tower Cakes. It is operated by Joseph and Michael Muscatello, who outline the history of the shop since it was established in 1976 by their emigrant parents.

And Madeline Spark finds a top spot to relax and unwind with a romantic stay-cay in Docklands (Boonwurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). Located just two kilometres west of the CBD, Vibe Melbourne Docklands is a newly rebranded hotel that opened earlier this year. With the CBD right on her doorstep, Madeline heads to The Lume for the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition, guided by General Manager Josh Ogilvie. Then it’s back to the Vibe for cocktails and a meal at the in-house restaurant, Storehouse.

TUCK INTO TOP FOODIE SPOTS FROM CITY TO COUNTRY

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, AT 3.30PM ON CHANNEL 9 & 9NOW

Join the Postcards team this week as they tuck into top foodie spots from Gisborne to Ballarat and Melbourne, at 3.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Madeline Spark discovers both new and beloved spots in Gisborne (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). First, the new kid on the block, Aitken Thirtysix, where she chats with owner Brooke Surgeon over a cup of coffee and a toastie. She then heads to ZENZEN, another new venue, which is pumping out delicious plates of Japanese street food. Maddy calls it a day at The Telegraph Hotel, a Gisborne fixture since 1852, with a classic pub meal and a red wine by the open fire.

Brodie Harper is in the close-knit community of Murrumbeena (Boonwurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). At the local favourite*, Cafe Omnia*, owner Maruf Ahmed tells her why being part of Murrumbeena village is so special. She gets the same vibe at The Little Village Grocer, an old-fashioned providore selling quality fresh produce and specialty items. Brodie’s last stop is the Murrumbeena Wine Bar, where she’s the guest of the manager, Sasha Gonzalez.

Meanwhile, Shane Delia visits venues in Ballarat serving up top-notch hospitality (Wathaurong Country). His first stop is The Ballarat Goods Shed, a newly minted event space that blends dining and community in a beautiful restored heritage precinct. With three unique menus under the one roof, Shane tries BoomTime Dumplings, savouring Hong Kong-style street food and bespoke cocktails. Two minutes down the road is Tin Roof Cafe with a menu as diverse as it is delicious, offering everything from pizzas and Greek street food to their star dish - a house-made spiced wonton bowl. Shane tops it all off at the Hotel Canberra, a venue that may look like a typical pub on the outside but surprises with an array of exciting dining experiences inside.

And Lauren Phillips explores beneath the city streets of Melbourne (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). She drops by the European-inspired Spring Street Grocer, a two-floor food heaven. Ground level is full of fresh produce, pantry essentials and gourmet take-home meals, and as you descend the spiral staircase, you’re in Australia’s first underground cheese maturation cellar. Here you can taste, learn about and buy the finest selection of local and international cheeses. Just a five-minute stroll away, Lauren arrives at the Manhattan-inspired Morris House. Here, she chats with comedian Bron Lewis in the venue’s intimate basement comedy club, capping off the day with a mouthwatering banoffee-flavoured cocktail at Bar Clara’s cosy underground bar on Little Bourke Street.

Join the Postcards team this week as they check out new “staycay” and day-trip locations as well as the Australian Ballet Company’s newest production, at 3.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Brodie Harper checks out the most comfortable and convenient stay just a five-minute walk to the terminals at Melbourne Airport (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). This brand-new hotel village at the airport is the perfect precinct to enjoy a staycay, with Small Holdings cafe providing a good cup of St Ali coffee and Boccata Restaurant & Bar serving up dinner. There are two hotels on the property, the premium budget Ibis Styles and the more luxurious Novotel. Brodie checks into the Novotel, then heads to Arundel Farm Estate, a boutique family-run winery nestled in the hills of the Keilor valley just a ten minute drive away. After a wine tasting, she returns to the precinct to relax at Higher State, Melbourne’s first airport health and wellbeing club.

Madeline Spark is up in the Dandenongs (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) for the day. She starts her mini-mountain road trip in Ferny Creek, just under an hour’s drive from Melbourne, where she stops by one of her favourite bakeries, Proserpina Bakehouse, for a coffee and a bite for the road. Making her way down the windy Mount Dandenong Tourist Road, she finds herself at the bespoke Truffaux Hat Shop, whose owner Oska Truffaux is the person to know when on the hunt for the perfect Panama hat. Madeline then settles in for a long lunch by the fire at Cistrine Bistro & Bar in Olinda village.

Livinia Nixon gets a sneak peek behind the curtain of the Australian Ballet Company’s new production, Oscar. While the Melbourne Arts Precinct undergoes renovations, the Regent Theatre (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) is the temporary home for the ballet, which will premiere Oscar next month. A new CBD location brings the company closer to Melbourne’s best dining venues, including Andrew McConnell’s Cumulus Inc. which is offering a free glass of sparkling to all ballet patrons. After a delicious meal and bubbles at Cumulus Inc., Livinia is off to the rehearsal studios in Southbank to meet artistic director David Hallberg and the team behind Oscar.

And Kris Smith explores Melbourne’s second smallest suburb, Ripponlea. First up, he heads into Firebrand Sourdough Bakery hotspot to grab a loaf of their tasty sourdough they’ve been making the same way for nearly four decades. He then spends some time people-watching down the road at Rippon Lea Estate, a historic mansion with gardens open for the public to enjoy. He tops off the day tucking into Mexican food and margaritas at Mission District with owners Tom and Jenna Davies.
