Nope. They kick everyone out at 6pm as the closing is ticketed. And the doors reopen at 6.15. Aside from the warm up guy telling some jokes, not much happens during the news

Channel 7 Telethon raises $83.3 million

New record set as WA digs deep

Western Australians have rallied in big numbers to support Channel 7 Telethon in 2024, with their generosity and kindness helping to raise a record $83,264,216 for sick children.

The theme, Incredible Together, perfectly captured the essence of the entire WA community coming together for a shared purpose, making the 57th Telethon Weekend one of the biggest ever.

Broadcast on Channel 7 in WA and streamed across 7plus nationally, the 26-hour live event at RAC Arena raised funds for the mission of creating a better and brighter future for WA kids.

Incredible Together pays tribute to the everyday heroes who contribute to Telethon’s success. From the doctors, nurses, and researchers tirelessly working to improve children’s health, to the courageous families who inspire us, from the corporate donations received from the business sector, and most importantly the generous community members who give what they can – every single person plays a vital role in Telethon’s success.

Seven West Media Chair and Telethon Trustee, Kerry Stokes AC, said: “Telethon provided vital support to children in need but also united the State in a celebration of kindness and hope.

“Every year, it’s about children using their own pocket money or fundraising to help other children. Telethon is a community-driven initiative that inspires generosity, and it is very special to West Australians and has been for more than half a century.”

Telethon was backed by the entire Seven West Media WA team including 7NEWS Perth, The West Australian, PerthNow, The Nightly, Streamer and 30 regional and suburban newspapers, as well as volunteers across the State all working alongside the Telethon team.

Seven West Media WA CEO and Telethon Trustee, Maryna Fewster, said Telethon was a powerful celebration of community, where everyone united to give hope to those families who needed help.

“Every dollar raised during Telethon 2024 will go towards making a real difference in the lives of children facing health challenges across our state,” she said.

Since its inception in 1968, Telethon has now raised over $688 million thanks to the generosity of the Western Australian community, becoming the largest charity fundraiser of its kind in the world.

Throughout 2024, Telethon has been financially supporting an incredible 136 children’s charities, beneficiaries and community organisations that are pivotal to advancing medical research and providing essential services, equipment and programs for sick children and their families all over Western Australia.

Noticed Triple M had Embers and Katie and Xav and Michelle co hosting segments together rather than the new pairing. Probably arranged before decisions were made.

Given there’s been no word on Michelle’s next move or if she’s still with SCA it’s great of her to still appear despite seemingly being replaced on air a day before.

Countdown begins for Telethon 2025 with 100 days to go until WA’s biggest weekend of giving

Countdown begins for Telethon 2025 with 100 days to go until WA’s biggest weekend of giving

With just 100 days to go until Telethon 2025, excitement is building across Western Australia for what promises to be another unforgettable weekend of generosity, entertainment, and community spirit – a true celebration of what it means to be Incredible Together.

On Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October 2025, RAC Arena and the Perth CBD will come alive with the colour and energy of Telethon’s 58th annual event.

The massive 26-hours will be broadcast live across Channel 7 and 7plus, and for the first time nationally on 7flix, showcasing the best of WA’s giving spirit, and featuring key performances, generous donations and all-around fun.

Telethon weekend is always packed with a star-studded lineup, and this year is no exception. Returning crowd favourite Emma Memma has confirmed she’ll be back for her third Telethon Weekend. Earlier this week, Emma met with the 2024 Little Telethon Stars backstage at her Perth show and shared her excitement about returning.

“Telethon holds a very special place in my heart, it’s such an incredible and important event, and I can’t wait to be back in Perth, singing, dancing and signing with everyone again!” she said.

Also joining the 2025 lineup is Aussie rock favourite Shannon Noll who will bring a dose of classic Aussie spirit to the weekend’s entertainment.

MKR judge Manu Feildel will return, as will AFL legend Shane Crawford. They’ll be joined by The Front Bar’s Mick Molloy, bringing his trademark humour and footy banter to the festivities.

They’ll appear alongside beloved Seven stars from Home and Away, Better Homes and Gardens, Sunrise, The Morning Show and The Chase, as well as the 7NEWS Perth team, and local sporting heroes. Of course, the lineup wouldn’t be complete without Telethon’s very own Fat Cat.

Last year’s Telethon raised a record $83.3 million which helped more than 161 charity beneficiaries provide better support and care for Western Australia’s most sick and vulnerable children.

Channel 7 Telethon Trust Chairman Richard Goyder AO said the state’s generosity continues to drive Telethon’s mission to support sick, vulnerable and disadvantaged children across WA.

“Telethon stands at the heart of providing hope and delivering tangible outcomes for those who need it most.

“This work is only possible thanks to the unwavering commitment, generosity and kindness of the WA community,” he said.

In 2024, Telethon had the highest level of community involvement yet, with more than 43,500 individual donations and over $1 million raised by passionate fundraisers across the state.

With both the Opening and Closing Shows selling out, and more than 100 Telethon beneficiaries activating at the Telethon Family Festival, the 2024 weekend truly embodied its theme: Incredible Together.

That message continues to grow in 2025, as we show once more that we’re Incredible Together, with over 60 schools from across the state already signed up to take part in the inaugural Premier’s Telethon Challenge — highlighting the strength of fundraising efforts from all ages.

Audience tickets to the opening and closing nights will be available at Ticketek from September 9.

While more names will be announced as we get closer to Telethon weekend, I hope that Perth’s own Gisella Colletti (who came third in this year’s Australian Idol) will be performing at the event. She performed Survivor by Destiny’s Child at last year’s Telethon alongside three other singers.

Thats fantastic!

Holy Moly 7Flix isn’t 7DumpingGround for once!
Is this the excuse to flick it to HD?! :stuck_out_tongue:

But I wonder why 7flix?

If they were genuine about a national broadcast reach, they’d use 7Two or even 7mate. Significantly higher rating channels and certainly the latter has the demographics that would watch telethons too.

So it makes me think they aren’t fully confident in this strategy and the channel selection will ensure if nobody finds it or tunes in there’ll be little damage and 7Two and 7mate will still draw their usual strong shares.

The book will be officially launched on Thursday, 22 August, with a live broadcast of Nathan, Nat & Shaun from Brentwood Primary School, marking Book Week 2025.

Following the launch, the book will be available for purchase via the Telethon website, with 100% of proceeds supporting children and families in need across Western Australia.

Tickets to the opening night and closing night are now on sale from Ticketek.
