Paris Olympics - International Coverage

A thread for…well, anything but Nine’s coverage:

NBC have confirmed Jimmy Fallon will be on their closing ceremony coverage.

It was last month announced Tirico, Kelly Clarkson and Peyton Manninh would do the opening ceremony.

What does Kelly Clarkson have anything to do with the Olympics? :face_with_monocle:

NBC have tended to make it a human interest/entertainment event rather than a sports one, like using Ryan Seacrest previously.

Interesting choice. Johnny Weir is a figure skater

HOY TV was the first HK broadcaster to reveal details of its coverage of Paris Olympics. Its commentary team will include current and retired athletes.

Interestingly, in Hong Kong, it’s the local broadcasters which retain the copyright to their own Olympic telecast, not the IOC. They don’t have the same copyright warnings as the Australian broadcasts (Seven, Nine and 10).

Good to see former Network 10 Motorsport commentator Leigh Duffey backing up from Tokyo to do play by play for track and field for NBC’s Olympic Coverage in Paris. He called the rowing for NBC at Rio 2016.

He is excellent - will be interesting to see if he stays at NBC after this year (they’ve lost the Indycar rights).

Seems like he’s going to become their lead NASCAR commentator:

He had pretty much become Ten Sport/ONE HD’s main anchor, outside AFL, prior to leaving the network around 2010, hosted the 2010 and 2009 Australian Grand Prix and Moto GPs IIRC, after Bill Woods went permanently Ten News Sydney.

Good on him though, one of the best success stories, his name keeps popping up too, plenty in Australia who follow/listen to him from state-side.

I’m sorry - relevance?

Cricket is at the 2028 LA Games.

He would be 39 by then so that was always very unlikely.

Still, what’s the relevance of that post other than to pander to Indian audiences and get Indian clicks?
