Paramount Australia & New Zealand

Weird that that article is dated 21 May 2025, it was clearly written some time before the November election last year.

The three Senators did write a letter to Shari Redstone earlier this week.

I think Mediaweek’s article describing Donald Trump as “former President” is incorrect.

I have always wondered why this thread is called Paramount Australia & New Zealand. Paramount has zero local presence in NZ, just a shell company with 2 foreign directors.

Its the name of the company

Thread reflects the actual name of the local division which includes New Zealand.

I’m sure they (Aus) look after content distribution in NZ, brand licensing etc.

Though I note over the last 6+ months or so, they generally refer to themselves as Paramount Australia sans the NZ part in media releases etc.

If 10 doesn’t renew, I wonder if WIN might want Sky News Regional back. After all they have a blank channel to use on channel 84.

I’d say that’s a strong possibility although there’s less and less journos now to do a WIN All Australian News bulletin.

I suspect that Nine spiked that for WIN - I dunno if they have final approval on what multichannels they take, but given WIN were happy to keep the deal in NNSW, I suspect that if they had the choice they’d have continued to carry it after getting the Nine affiliation back.

Before they stopped carrying it entirely, they shuffled the numbers around in their solus markets to avoid it being on the ‘Nine’ group of channels - despite being on the 8x numbers when they were a primary 10 affiliate, it moved over to 53 when that changed back. Can’t see any other reason to mess with those numbers if it wasn’t pressure from Nine.

10 are probably in a good negotiating spot for that reason, Sky have no other option.

Assuming my translation is correct, Paramount is close to selling its Latin American free to air networks Telefe (Argentina) and ChilevisiĂłn (Chile).

Paramount Australia has partnered with ad tech provider Magnite to roll out programmatic advertising on Paramount+ following the launch of the streamer’s ad-supported tier.

The partnership will see Paramount leverage Magnite’s technology, including its SpringServe video platform, to give advertisers more efficient and transparent access to its streaming inventory.

Yeah, all the PSAs will say “Vote Trump”.

They want Paramount to be the new UFA.

More local cuts for Channel 10 and ParamountANZ with 5 members of the publicity team made redundant. And I imagine it wasnt a very big team to begin with.

The FCC on Thursday finally signed off on the marriage of Skydance Media and Paramount Global.

The $8 billion deal has faced myriad challenges on its way to the finish line but will be made official in the coming days by the companies. No shareholder vote or other approvals are required. With the FCC’s blessing, the transaction will reshape the media landscape and recast David Ellison, chairman and CEO of the combined company, as a top Hollywood power player.
