Paramount Australia & New Zealand

Another view of it here, not the first time he’s said this stuff either, extraordinary:

What a flog. Paramount isn’t going to go broke.

You obviously didn’t listen to it. He didn’t say Paramount would go broke. He said a potential new buyer for paramount wouldn’t want 10 with the sale and then 10 would go broke.

I am sure 10 can get another buyer so it won’t go broke.

Why?

If you’re asking why a new buyer wouldn’t want 10, Tom stated the following reasons in his editorial:

  • Lisa Wilkinson earning $2 million a year yet is not doing any work, and is now suing Ten
  • The Project losing viewers
  • Paramount are probably up for sale and its almost certain the new buyer would not want Channel 10
  • Tom also said he doesn’t know anyone who watches much on Channel 10

Whilst this could all just be speculation, don’t forget Tom has a background in business and finance and would have reliable contacts who may know a thing or two about what’s going on.

For the right price… it’ll be sold.
No doubt newscorp still want access to a free to air channel.

WBD/Turner could buy out Ten at a cut price if 10 goes under.

This is so true! A new buyer will not be interested in a network because one of it’s shows is losing viewers. It’s really so great to see such high quality investigative journalism on display.

Is that confirmed? It could be correct but i don’t think I’ve ever seen this confirmed.

All shows are losing viewers. It’s 2024, unless it’s a reality show or the Matildas people are switching off TV.

Seriously this is a valid argument? Put oztam away just ask Tom for his ratings anecdotes

I don’t know anyone who listens to Tom Elliott and/or 3AW… scrap them both

Her affidavit also refers to her contract/salary being adjusted for departing The Project so if she was ever on as much as $2m then she certainly wasn’t past the end of 2022.

He’s been gunning for Neil Mitchell’s gig ever since he took over Hinch on Drive over a decade ago… Now he got his wish but agree, audience will dive

Surprised that Tom didn’t carry on about the network being ‘woke’ to complete the trifecta of right wing Channel 10 talking points alongside Lisa Wilkinson’s salary and The Project.

The Australian reports staff at 10 are bracing for job cuts over the next few weeks, following similar moves in USA. Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish said in a staff memo yesterday that the layoffs would impact some of its employees in offices outside the US, but stopped short of saying how many positions would be cut.

Could be the reason why the Late News has not launched.

What else is there to cut at 10 though? Any further cuts to the newsroom will result in localised editions reverting back to the combined bulletins.

10 desperately needs a new owner.

One presenters pay cheque and a flailing Project aren’t going to kill 10. Why is so much of Australia’s media obsessed with the small stuff.

Losing their ties with Paramount+, cutting primetime budgets, boring programming and being forced to improve 10Play might actually pose a risk. But one news show isn’t going to kill the entire network. Just so tunnel visioned.

They could cut from non FTA sections of paramount ANZ. Things like MTV staff etc.

I think the back office and IT department at Paramount ANZ will be the worst hit.

Why the IT department?
