Paramount Australia & New Zealand

Oooof this is embarrassing. I’d be worried if a high school student put out ‘analysis’ like this. TVBB was better when it was just copying and pasting network media releases.

Don’t read much into this. We all know TV Blackbox has some sort of issue with 10 and the articles show this…

He’s not wrong though.

Viacom will wake up, eventually

Wake up to what? That Network 10 is declining much slower than CBS in the US?

If you’re talking about restoring The Simpsons at 6, keep dreaming.

And shut down the internet? And global streaming companies?

Today??? Sunrise or ABC Breakfast

Hope ABC TV gain viewers off 10

I don’t disagree with some of the points raised by Rob at TVBB and don’t want to come across like I’m being negative as I love the site, the podcast and his general commentary but the acid tongue in which he uses to lash 10 is overly harsh. There is no doubt they have some issues but the furore directed to 10 isn’t replicated to other networks.

Channel 7 is propped up by their early evening schedule, rusted on news viewers, their primetime schedule is in tatters right now and I feel they don’t receive the same vitriol that he directs to 10. Big Brother VIP launched to figures lower than The Bachelorette but it only gets a passing mention on the podcast when going through the ratings wrap.

Focus on Masterchefs “woeful” ratings this year (which I don’t buy) yet no real mention of the fact Big Brother often tied or ranked below Masterchef, nor comparing with how MC fared this year with 2019 given we know 2020 was a one-off type event (returning cast, new judges etc).

Anyway, my perspective is that the commentary is very biased, there is some valid points but it’s hard to take the overall article too seriously given the bias, the comparison with 2011 and the lack of context compared to other networks.

And lastly, whilst it’s not an excuse, Aaron made a great point that 10 will always be third placed they won’t compete with the rusted on viewers that tune into 6pm news on Nine and Seven but in primetime - throughout most of the year they’re pretty competitive i.e. their tentpoles perform well for the most part.

Home And Away rated 980,000 in overnights just on 10 years ago (23 November 2011, the earliest I have on file). It was #7 for the night.

On Tuesday (when it last aired across five cities) it rated 541,000 (#12)

That’s a drop of around 44.8% in overnight figures.

ACA in 2011 recorded 959,000 then (at 6.30pm?) and #8. On Tuesday, 635,000 (7pm) and ranked #9. Drop of 33.8%

ABC News in 2011: 831,000 (#13). Tuesday: 657,000 (#8). Drop of 20.9%.

The Project in 2011: 604,000 (#18). Tuesday: 434,000 (7pm) and ranked #15. Drop of 28.1%

So, all have suffered drops but just from this day vs day sample, Seven is down over 40%, but The Project is the trigger even though it’s a lower % and has moved up in overall ranking?

TBF, it is a broad question that has come and gone a number of times since the third commercial licences were on offer in the early 1960s. The answer has fluctated over the years, depending on who you ask.

10 always have struggles in their heydays like when had a disastrously revamp in 1989 where it was rebranded 10 TV Australia with increased game show content which it was all canned together later before the CanWest purchase.

Not to mention the massive conflict of interest with Studio 10. Any serious commentator would include a footnote.

Also, are numbers the biggest factor in success? Ten was the most profitable network for years and years despite coming third. There’s a good shot Studio 10 makes just as much, if not more for the network with our all the vanity projects and expensive contracts of the old format.

Ah another 10 bash from Rob and TV Blackbox.

One word comes to mind… bitter.

But no article on how Making It’s debut outrated Big Brother VIP?

And regarding Celebrity MasterChef ‘struggling’, is it really? Over the last year we have seen an incredible change in what’s considered a flop and what’s not and Celebrity MasterChef is doing fine in comparison to some other recent reality shows.

McKnight’s been pushing this agenda for months now, and The Daily Mail loves it. Especially his alt-right ‘Go Woke, Go Broke’ slogan that comes directly from the likes of Milo Yiannopoulos.

October:

Hard to take him seriously when he was fired by Channel 10. Prior to that it was reported that he was placed on leave from the show because he “had lost his temper on a handful of occasions”. And last year he had to apologise for calling the refreshed show a “piece of shit”.

As others have mentioned The Project isn’t a ratings winner but does relatively well in demos and would have been axed long ago if national figures were the only indicator of success. Maybe it still will be, but I wouldn’t trust TV Blackbox or The Daily Mail with that analysis.

100% agree with him.

I’ve got no doubt the Melbourne Cup Carnival will soon return to Seven in 2 years time. The VRC won’t be happy with 10s offering.

Argee with you. Snide Remarks of Channel 10 is not right in my mind and getting the merry men to do snide remarks is even worse. I do however argee what they say about ratings

but I am very disappointed with the latest Podcast episode as It made the Death of a Aussie TV Icon…a really bad afterthought. It was the biggest elephant in the room this week and they were blind at it. A Reality Star turned soapie star had more air time than the man that host the Logies 19 times. Very much a wrong call.

Is it possible that SCA will make a bid to purchase channel 10 if the current owners want to sell the ten network? That’s if the 7 network buys prime group?

No.

He was the one who designed the coverage. It’s not much different to what he did in the first year. Maybe he’s bitter after he was sacked.

10 had promoted the coverage on all its platforms and all it’s programs. The coverage is pretty good when you put it side by side with other sports broadcasts. It’s well directed, shot and presented.

10 is just lower watched for all things. It’s pathetic but it’s true. They do need to do more varied promotions and really work out their strategy more than programming one hour of prime time each night.
