Now that 10 and Channel 5 are under the same ownership, does it mean Channel 5 documentaries which currently air on SBS (with copyright held by Viacom International Networks) will eventually move to 10?

So 10 can rate lower in primetime than it does now?

Not necessarily. These Channel 5 documentaries e.g. Secrets of (insert company name) can be scattered across 10Bold’s schedule, or air on main channel on Friday nights and Saturday nights.

It doesn’t mean anything until anything is announced otherwise, but I doubt it.

It obviously suits SBS’s audience, if 10 wanted it before they likely would’ve tried to acquire it.

UK and Australia are vastly different tv markets.
I can’t see much from 5 working in Australia

10 Travlr to launch in 2020

Network 10 has today announced a partnership with TRAVLR to launch a co-branded online travel marketplace known as 10 Travlr.

10 Travlr will give 10 audiences the opportunity to explore and book travel deals to many locations across the world. The brand will live across platforms, including online at a dedicated transactional and editorial website and linear broadcast through a half hour travel show exploring some of the world’s most popular destinations. Travel packages on 10 Travlr will be specially curated for its audience.

Network 10’s chief executive officer Paul Anderson said: "Destination travel experiences come naturally to many of our programs – think South Africa and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here , Fiji and Bachelor In Paradise , Melbourne and the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix .

“10 Travlr introduces a new travel branded offering to our audiences and advertisers, extending our viewing experience while opening up a new revenue stream for our business. We’re looking forward to working with the TRAVLR team as we integrate their services across our platforms.“

TRAVLR’s global commercial director Gordy Bayne says the partnership between TRAVLR and Network 10 is a content rich partnership.

“This is an exciting strategic partnership and a unique way for our trade partners to reach and engage with 10’s valuable under 50s audience. 10 Travlr will be an end to end travel platform and ecosystem, showcasing Tourism Board destinations and our user-generated content. Through the intuitive 10 Travlr online marketplace or via in-segment integration, trade partners can promote their destinations, airlines, cruise lines and hotels across multiple platforms, with that younger 10 tone of voice that travellers love.”

TRAVLR specialises in making rich digital content transactional and scalable for businesses globally. It is the second travel platform from Simon and Lani te Hennepe, who launched The Bali Bible in 2008, which now boasts over two million social media followers and a customer network in excess of 500,000.

“Let’s go somewhere where we can live it up, like bogan reality TV stars.” :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It’s really no different to their direct rivals in this space with 7 Travel or 9honey Travel, or any other travel group with a slightly obscure name for that matter - expedia, wotif, agoda, kayak etc.

This is just 10 diversifying their business with other revenue streams outside of traditional terrestrial television, and networks wouldn’t establish or pursue these opportunities if there wasn’t something in it for them both with content, product intergration into programming and
cross-platform opportunities.

Trust the people who brought you Celebrity Name Game and Saturday Night Rove to show you a good time next time you book a holiday. No thanks.

I wish this naming trend would end, if only because I think of Grindr every time I see another business, app, or website with a similar name.

That could make for an awkward conversation when telling your grandma which site to book her next holiday.

In his expanded role, Anderson will additionally have local oversight of Viacom’s family of flagship pay TV networks – including Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. – and a range of associated businesses, as well as retaining oversight of Network 10’s portfolio of free-to-air TV channels and digital platforms.

From The Australian:

While no changes accessing the newly merged ViacomCBS content are immediately planned across the 10 Network it is understood changes could be made in 2020, with management consultancy Bain & Company conducting the restructure of the business in Australia and overseas.
