This has been reported in a few different places, while it appears Optus Sport Satellite for residential is definintely closing down later in the month, I’ve heard mixed reports on commercial distribution for pubs and clubs.
With beIN leaving Foxtel mid last year this only leaves the Fox Sports suite of channels, ESPN and Sky Racing/Racing.com that are distributed via satellite.
In my view Optus Sport Satellite was doomed from the get-go in that it required a dedicated box (separate from the VAST box), and wasn’t made available via Foxtel as an independent subscription and separate bill (similar to how Setanta worked when it started). If it was something that you could add on to VAST I think uptake would have been better.
