Article on herald this morning about tvnz no referring to 1 News as OneNews. Honestly how many years has it been

TVNZ still sometimes refer to themselves as OneNews though. I saw a recommended event pop up on my Facebook yesterday from TVNZ called “OneNews Young Leaders Debate”. To be honest I don’t really mind the old OneNews brand, don’t have a problem with it.

Same with news organisations still referring to Three as TV3.

Melissa Stokes hosting 1 News Midday today.
In waiting for the Christchurch terrorist verdict, Midday ran 3 extra stories after the usual News, Sport and Weather rundown. Then went to Emmerdale.

In the article it says she has been made redundant but will still present around the network, correct me if I am wrong I have been made redundant and that means i have no job,so should the article not be corrected to reflect she isn’t leaving the network.

Probably a nice bit of PR from TVNZ to let everybody know the door isn’t closed just yet, but will in the next year or so.

Didn’t Bernadine Oliver Kirby suffer the same fate when the dual presenter role ended on weekends. They said she will fill in still as needed but then stopped appearing altogether.

Made redundant from her fulltime role and rehired on a casual swing-presenter contract for much less.

Wendy Petrie will do her final full time anchoring of 1News at 6pm on Sunday 30th August, hopefully a on air farewell from the team as it was done for others before her. Network News will never be the same on ONE, again, good wishes to her for the future!

Remind me to never work for TVNZ. Disgusting how they treated Wendy. She had to even ready her farewell speech off her own piece of paper. She’s a wonderful newsreader and needs a bit more respect then such.

Very, very, very low key farewell indeed! Sad really considering the time Wendy has held the roll. Perhaps it was her choice not to make a big fuss?

Perhaps the low key farewell is due to the fact that Wendy isn’t actually leaving the network but rather moving to (as I understand it) a casual fill-in role

Poor Wendy! She teared up even before reading her final lines.

That’s not how one should treat a world class member of the newsroom on her final night. Wendy was almost was in tears with final words, but sign off was very fast paced with theme and camera panning away. Tvnz will never learn from the John Hawkesby saga, that ruined 3 top presenters lives forever, Long, Bailey and Hawkesby. Now they considering Campbell and Hirschfeld, I could do a better job TVNZ News and Current Affairs! Unforgivable attitude! Call me

Covid time’s redundancies still at the company whatever excuse u wanna use it’s still not good enough to huck off a presenter of 14years in One job with this half arsed cut for time sign off. Piss poor tvnz

Edit: they should have just made her tonight’s good sort.
