1 Dec 1989 (NZ): Letter to Blanchy, a fresh sitcom from AK Grant and McPhail & Gadsby, premieres on TV3 (now Three). As director Ian Mune described, it showcased a comedy of errors in which characters find themselves in dire situations due to their arrogance, foolishness, desperation to impress others or opportunistic behaviour. Although the hour-long pilot (“Jet Boat”) screened during TV3’s inaugural week, the series was intended to continue in 1990; regrettably, financial issues prevented any further episodes from being produced.

1 Dec 1989 (NZ): The final episode of That’s Fairly Interesting, a magazine series showcasing quirky people and events, screens on Channel 2 (now TVNZ 2).
