5/12/2008 Heather Foord presents her final weeknight bulletin on Nine News Queensland, making way for Melissa Downes. This breaks up the successful partnership she had with Bruce Paige which (save for a brief period in the early noughties when Jillian Whiting presented on weeknights) had lasted since the mid-1990s.
9 December 2006: ABC premieres nostalgia-themed documentary series How The Hell Did We Get Here?, hosted by Shane Bourne. The series takes a look back at what helped shape the baby boomer generation.

18 December 1992: Network Ten‘s Good Morning Australia presents its final edition, ending an 11-year run. The Good Morning Australia title is then transferred to the mid-morning show hosted by Bert Newton.
24 December 1956: Melbourne’s annual Carols By Candlelight is televised for the first time, broadcast by GTV9 as part of its pre-launch test transmissions.
24 December 1969: Melbourne’s Carols By Candlelight begins annual telecast coverage via ATV0 and through the 0-10 Network.
24 December 1974: Darwin is hit by Cyclone Tracy. Local TV stations ABD6 and NTD8 taken off the air.
