There’s a new Winter Olympics promo airing now, highlighting how it is the first in many years to be in a favourable time zone for Australia.

Tokyo in 2020 and Beijing in 2022 will also be in favourable time zones. We’re in some luck over the next six years not having to wake up early to watch blue-ticket events. Rio was in the around lunchtime AEST

But no free-to-air coverage on days -1 and -2. The claim on Seven News that there is 7 days to go is not correct. Competition starts on Wednesday so it is actually 5 days to go.

Edit: And it looks as if Seven will not be streaming any events on Wednesday day -2 as their schedule starts from Thursday day -1. Terrible start.

According to the schedule on Pyeongchang 2018 official website, day -2 is actually training runs for biathlon, luge and ski jumping, not competition. So Seven has done the right thing.

Any word on NBC’s thoughts on the timing of big events? Seems that recent Olympics have had finals scheduled around prime time US TV. So favourable time zones have not been a beneficial to Australia as they would otherwise have been.

The entire schedule for NBC’s coverage is in this link

Guessing they’re very happy that the figure skating competition will be held early morning in Pyeongchang - it allows both NBC and NBCSN to air it live in primetime on most nights

It will be the same for swimming with finals to be held in the morning Tokyo time which will be early afternoon here

I have to say, those title-cards look very polished and professional, looks better than the Rio 2016 Graphics and Seven News already, hoping Seven returns to classic transparent Olympic variation watermark, it’s does the job clearly to say, “You are watching the Olympics on Seven”, no need for the unnecessary “Live & Free” clutter. :stuck_out_tongue:

Will there be on demand replays of events on the 7Olympic app? Or is that only on premium?

Seems like replays won’t be available full stop to anyone which is really disappointing

You may have to wait until the events are uploaded to the Olympic Channel on YouTube after the Games conclude. And it will be the world feed commentary.

What was the TV schedule for 7’s coverages of Nagano 1998, Salt Lake City 2002 and Torino 2006. I can find Nine’s Vancouver 2010’s listings tucked on TV tonight

Seven had on demand replays on the premium part of the 7 Olympics website and app for Rio 2016, it was free to Telstra customers.

Updated versions from Seven will be posted each day - one week in advanced. Here is next Sunday for those programming DVRs. A link to the full guide has been posted above; expecting these to be updated when appropariate.
